Default Are you interested in trading (to borrow) games etc.?

There are games that I would like to play but I'm not too interested in buying them. I don't have any gamer friends to borrow from so i'm curious to see if anybody else is interested in trading games. Loaner style. Maybe three weeks at a time.
For instance, I'd loan you my SMB for your Bubble bath babes. Nah...thats just a joke but you get what I'm saying. We could figure out the details later but I'm wondering how many people we have who are open to the idea of trading carts/discs. Probably no paper items. Games only.

See, in theory this is a good idea. But I know that no matter what,. my games won't quite be in the same condition when they come back. I have lent my last game. I try lending shit to friends, but the stuff will come back with the tinyest of imperfections that werent there when it left. I'm way too picky.

Hopefully some other people are into this, though. It could be like DP gamefly.

Yeah it would require a bit of understanding. One option is to only loan your beaters until you build relationships with other traders.

exactly. I cant stand when people i know touch my games in front of me. Nevermind shipping it to someone ive never met X amount of distance away from me without me being there. Besides, i'd have to ship you my game, and then ship you yours back. When you look at the costs of rentals, around here its $6 for 3 days for new games, and $6 for 7 day on older titles. So wait til the game gets older, rent it out for a week or 2, and it would costs the same of shipping a game back and forth. Plus you dont have to worry about what the person is doing with your game this way. Great idea (this trading system) but certainly not for me

Do you have a local rental store that rents anything older than PS2?
I think it would be great to be able to trade 3DO, DC, CD-i, TG-CD, NES, Intellivision etc. games.
This isn't for everybody but I am interested in hammering out some details.

I couldnt handle lending my games out....I just cant trust people. My family are usually the culprits of not returning games. Or if I get them back , they are in utter shite condition....

Honestly, I wouldnt be for the idea. While it has its merrets, the biggest problems are trust and honesty. Gamers can lie about the condition of their stuff. Say I tell you my copy of Pac Man for the 2600 was in perfect condition. When you get it, its not. Who's to say I was not telling the truth? Who's to say you didnt simply switch it on arival? Plus, there is the problem of coppies. Who realy wants to pay the high prices for games like Radient Silvergun these days? In an honest world, it would work and have no problems. As such, it has to many ways to be abused. Also, there is the issue of dealing with the mail. Who knows how it will arive after the postal service has their hands on it? While most mail is delivered without any issues, there is always the risk that someones valued copy of Rez would be damaged beyond use.

I haven't let people borrow my games for years, simply because of the abuse that can be had. However last I did let friends borrow games they were all duplicates. I'd mod their PlayStation for them (used to to it on the side in high school) and then have no problem letting them borrow duplicates of my games. I would always eventually ask for my duplicate back (who's to say if they duplicated the duplicate or not) and then would let someone else borrow it, eventally recovering it again. That way if something happened to the game it was just a backup copy.

If we did ever get this off the ground we should try to find a way to make a rating system built into the forums. Actually would be a good idea for selling/buying also.

Like an eBay like feedback system to say Hey I have this many good sales.

Do you really want to try to read through 178 feedback to figure out if someone is good or not? A + or - modifier would be pretty nice for feedback.

    A poll would work.
    Option 1: Positive.
    Option 2. Negative.

I'll get into the Rarity Guide and start updating my "Have's". Those (few) of you who are interested in trading, I suggest you do the same. It's a pretty easy way to list the things we have to trade.

    YES!!!

One thing that might turn some people away though: I would prefer that they send first. ((Trust me I won't rip any of oyu off, I have a link to my Ebay feedback if you want to see it also))

My one other rule(I use this for my friends also), You break it you bought it(or I get to keep their game). This goes both ways though, as I will pay for anyones game if I messed it up.

I hope that sounds fair and doesn't make me look like an evil jerk.

All things considered, I'd be game as long as everyone involved takes care of everyone else's stuff. Perhaps some sort of agreement involving the borrower being responsible for damages would make things more acceptable?

Nope, I just couldn't see this turning out ok. You'd have to exclude newer members, which would insult a lot of probably honest people. There's just too many complications other than that as well, damage to the games, etc.

I have way too many games to play anyways without borrowing them!

EDIT: See, the thing is, the price it costs to ship it, you can rent a current gen game for.

Now, for older systems, it's going to cost 5.00 to ship out...you can usually BUY the game for 5.00...unless it's something rare, and no one's going to let me borrow their copy of Flintstones Surprise at Dino Peak.

Started thinking more after reading the whole thread.

"Agree to pay for what you damage..."
    "You mail first"
Neither of those agreements will help anything.
This isnt directed at either of you but either be a mature, responsible, honest adult or dont participate. If you arent prepared to ship your game, then dont agree to trade. If youre overly worried about your game, then dont trade it.
