Zero Feedback Bidders?

I normally don't think twice about bidders with zero feedback. Everyone has to start somewhere. On the other hand... for my higher dollar items such as arcade games, it makes me kind of paranoid. I have e-mailed my high bidder and no response yet, it's only been half a day so I won't jump to conclusions just yet... I will give him a few days, since there is almost still 5 days left in the auction. How long should I wait until I cancel his bid? It clearly states that I will cancel bids if people do not respond to my e-mails. Can people not read and follow directions, or are they just blind? I have canceled a zero feedback bidder before, and he never replied via e-mail... until 1 month later I messaged him on AOL by chance and he replied. I told him why I canceled his bid, and he was like "No Problem" and it turns out he does not even live anywhere remotley close to me

Give him a couple of days, and then cancel if he hasn't responded. You'll know he's serious if he emails you after you cancel the bid.

Yeah definitely give him a couple of days. Zero feedback doesn't always reflect how good the buyer is. My feedback rating on Ebay is only 5, thats only because I don't have the cash to buy stuff there very often!

For an arcade cab I would cancel a 0 bid. A newb isn't likely to understand bidding or shipping on such a big and expensive item. Well, let me rephrase that -- if I were able to reach them via feedback and confirm everything beforehand, then I would let it stand. If they weren't answering my e-mails I'd drop them like a hot potat.

i always cancell 0 feedback users, especially if its something i plan on getting alot for.

Many 0 feedback newbs like to purchase the $5.99 BIN Mario/Zelda type auctions but for something more expensive its always wise to put "bidders with under 5 feedback must contact seller before bidding" It helps trust me.

I clearly stated that bidders with zero or questionable negative feedback are required to e-mail me first. I guess they are either :

1. Blind
2. Can't Read
3. All Of The Above

Here is an update of the persons bid I canceled. He e-mailed me back with this:

I received notice that my bid has been canceled and now that I'm checkiing
my e-mails I see you had sent me an e-mail. Since this is my first time
trying to buy off ebay I didn't know I should be looking for you to send me
an e-mail that needed my response. Since there is still 4days + remaining,
I would think I would have been given a longer time to answer before
ccancelling my bid. I am still interested in bidding. Please tell me what
I need to do to reinstate my bid.

If he would have read my discription better, none of this would have ever happened. I sent two e-mails to him, but I guess it didn't matter since he probably only checks his e-mail every second blue moon. Now the final bid is 55 bucks lower than it was before I canceled his bid. Sheeeesh...

I guess you should have been more patient. Not all zero feedback bidders are the devil, some are just new to eBay like all of us were at one time.
