I've been waiting for someone to find a way to do this for a while. You have to upgrade your Playchoice 10 bios, but it's about time!
Thoughts?

i think that page's colors are way to offensive to read, my eyes are freakin killing me after looking at it for a second : P
but seriously, thats cool as hell....i just need to uhh...get a playchoice ten....yah....
You must be Dirk, Dirk the Daring
I've heard for a long time that there might be some way to play NES games in actual RGB via the Playchoice, and I guess it appears that this guy was successful in his attempt to get it running.
One of the main reasons that I don't have a real NES anymore, and I just emulate it on my XBOX is because it doesn't do RGB, so I don't feel a need to absolutely have the real machine. I'm cool with the emulation on the XBOX and emulation on the PC. Especially that now they actually have real NES controllers that you can use on the PC.
But if there is a way to play all NES games in RGB, then that could be something that could cause me to want to play the real games in RGB.
The question is, can you hook up a real NES controller to the circuit board of the PlayChoice 10?
Can the Playchoice 10 circuit board be put into some type of box or contraption, so that you could use it with RGB monitors, like it's a console? You know like people do with the Arcade version of the Neo Geo?
Hmm. Interesting.
Maybe at some point somebody will take it upon themselves to try to create some type of PlayChoice 10 board into a box that has RGB output on the back and a NES controller on the front and some type of slot to put actual NES cartridges in.
If I could get something like that for $200 or less, I would most likely buy it, and then I would start collecting NES carts again.
Oh, lord.....the kittens. Damn you all, you're killing the kittens!
The thing is, this project seems kind of abandoned based on the dates. Of course, it's also a bit unpractical for most of us, since Playchoice-10 units aren't a dime a dozen. However, if this pans out, and someone is willing to do the massive modding necessary, it'd be neat to see a working system hooked up to a monitor.
But, please, think of the kittens.
This is a great idea but it still does not seem like it has much hope. MVS boards are so popular to be "consolized" because they are in great abundance. PlayChoice 10 boards are also much more expensive than single slot MVS boards. It's still exciting to see NES in RGB... even if you can't own it, its still nice to know that it can be done.
But heres to hope.
I hear Kevin Horton actually found a way to hack a PC10 PPU into a console NES to get RGB.
Has anyone ever actually found a French NES with the rumored RGB? Yes, it would be SECAM, but I'm still curious.
Has anyone ever heard of someone playing a PC 10 cart on an NES? It would be cool to have a converter for that...

Can't remember where I read it, but apparently the French RGB NES is a bit of a bodge - instead of being 'true' RGB, it just converts the RF signal into a fake RGB-like signal which is actually no better quality than the standard RF.Originally Posted by rbudrick
I read this too, on the NES World forums.Originally Posted by anagrama
