Default PSP Online - Anyone playing or Am I...

...doing something wrong. I've got 100% signal strength and I can download on Wipeout Pure, so I'm connected.

Thing is, I've got Ridge Rager, Darkstalkers & Mercury that I'm trying to play here, but either I'm doing something wrong or no one's playing. No races hosted, No one in the Darkstalkers lobby & it can never find anyone wanting to play on Mercury.

    What's up here?

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Ridge Racer & Darkstalkers are ad-hoc only, meaning you can only play with others who are within 100 feet or so of you, not online. I think the boxes may have been mislabeled though.

Not sure about Mercury, but the online online definitive game I can think of is Twisted Metal, but there may be a few others.

Well after calling Nacmo, Capcom & Ignition Tech Support, they all told me the same thing, the listing of "Infrastructure mode" on the back of the box was a typo.

Hmmm, pretty shitty if you ask me, as far as I can tell the only actual "online" games are Twisted Metal & Gretzky.

So yeah, none of my games work, I bought a router for nothing. Bullshit.

For whatever reason, Sony is being very sneaky about labeling which games support online play on the packages themselves. I have found no way to tell which ones support it and which ones don't just by looking at the boxes.

In the race to retail, a *lot* of PSP launch titles were mislabeled as Infrastructure (Internet) instead of Ad Hoc (local), but those packaging problems have supposedly been resolved. Nothing "sneaky," just stupid.

I still firmly maintain that it's both. Ha ha.

So what are the released games that actually DO have Infastructure support?

ATV: Offroad has online mode too, and its actually pretty fun for a little bit too.

Did you see that there is a new network update for the psp? Version 1.51 is avalible. I dont understand why wipeout isnt online considering they hacked it to browse the web.

Ummm, last time I checked, there was some software for this, kind of like Xbox Connect. I can't remember it for the life of me, and I uninstalled it quite a while ago.

Edit: A quick google search was pretty helpful, as I found the site here.

I would recommend that you DON'T update to 1.51 for the time being. The only thing it fixes is a few loopholes in the current firmware that could possibly be exploited to run unofficial software, e.g. emulators and whatnot. That's what I've heard, at least.

I already tried that, the program would do nothing but run for about 2 minutes and then cut itself off. Plus I didn't see much point after I see there were only a handful of people playing any PSP games. 6 on Wipeout Pure, none on any of the others.

Hmmm, you could also try using Xbox Connect, it is much easier and user-friendly, although there is never really anyone on. :/
