If they really cancelled the Phantsy Star Collection, it is sad news. On the other hand I can understand the decission of Sega. At least if I look at the sales of Phantasy Star Collection for the Game Boy Advance. The Sales were poor and even in the discountbin for 15 euros it didn't sell that well. So if sales in the USA were the same for the GBA-version.as in The Netherlands I can understand their decission.
The problem is all those people are shouting they want a certain game and when they release it nobody buys it because they want to wait to wait till it is in the discount. I think that's the problem, everybody was praising Radiant Silvergun, but how many really bought one back then for 50 or 60 $? Not much.
So sad news in my opinion, but no surprise.
I really hope it hasn't been cancelled too. I've been waiting for this thing for years, but at least I still have my original copies of the game.
As far as the PS collection on the GBA version not selling goes, in the American version, at least, there were serious bugs like the saving crash in the original PS. I bought my copy in spite of knowing the bug exists because I wanted the game, but I'd assume there has to be some people that decided not to bother. There's also the fact that it was on a portable, and I don't know about other people, but I have a hard time reading text on tiny screens over long periods.
The odd thing is, I never could find PST on the EBgames websiteI'm suprised they had it in the store database.
The problem here is that they announced the game too damn early. The remake of Phantasy Star 2 only came out in japan recently. 4 isn't even done.
If it is going to come out, We have a long wait.

I hope that Sega of America will end up publishing the trilogy in the States, like they have for Sega Classics Collection. There is a rumor that Conspiracy may go out of business.

I've only ever seen one game disappear and reappear later though... it was Final Fantasy XII lol. I never really believed for a minute that FFXII was really cancelled, but at least there they released some news tidbit saying that the release was now "indefinite" and the database change just reflected that.
The news that the PS4 remake isn't even done in Japan yet is heartening though, thanks!
