Xbox screen rolls, HD A/V pack and composite input?

I recently bought an Xbox from EBay. This Xbox is not like any other Xbox, it has a translucent blue case, and has blue LEDs installed. However, I recieved the Xbox, and the video screen flickers! It reminded me of when I tried feeding a PAL system into the same TV, it was black and white, and the screen just rolls over and over again. I contacted the seller who told me I needed an HD (High Definition) A/V pack, the one where I need the red, blue, and green cables to get it to work, as well composite input. I have no clue why I would need these, since I know that Xboxes work normally with standard A/V input. He told me he'd send them to me at no extra cost, but I am still ticked off that he didn't say anything about it sooner. So I'm wondering what's wrong with my Xbox, and if what the seller is saying is true, that I need the HD pack and the composite input, or if he's totally bullshitting to me and sold me a busted Xbox. It's either a PAL system, or a modded system set to PAL. Could be set to 1080i and your TV does not support it. That shouldn't effect regular meny though, just in game.

I know my TV does not support PAL because I had a PAL N64...and yes, it looks exactly the same, but it came in an NTSC box, and the guy told me that the RGB cables (The HD pack) should fix the problem. If it doesn't, I can always get a refund.

Just hope that the new HD cables will work. While I will not go into details as to why I think this, I do believe that chances are that the system will work right after being hooked up to a HD TV with the HD cables.

Well, I got the HD cables today. I hook it up, and there is color! But the screen still rolls.

You need to switch it to NTSC. It's hard to do blind.

You need a Slayer's boot disc, or an Enigmah region switcher disc, and a DVDrom drive that will read the burned disc.

Then you need instructions on what to press, as you won't be able to see the menu.

The biggest problem will probably be finding the actual video switch disk file.

This page has some tech details on the file for some quick double checks that you have ended up with the right file(after you find it of course, XDK compiled and all that fun stuff so no direct links from me)

Since they are refering to just the ISO file, you should be able to just burn that and hope that your XBox drive can read the burned media. (So no worries about xISO, or dummy files)

I burned the file onto a CD-RW, and it didn't work.
