Default Yet another Sega CD thread *Help?*

I am starting a new thread because I didn't see the issue that I am having with my particular Sega CD system addressed here.

My Sega CD will not read discs. The Sega CD will start up fine, it'll say press start, and whether it's a Sega CD game, a 32X CD game, or just a music CD, it says "No Disc."

The system worked fine a month ago when I last used it to beat Snatcher. Now all of a sudden I try it and nothing. It's clean, it hasn't been moved.

    What does it all mean?

Although you're talking about a SegaCD, I posted an answer to this problem concerning the JVC X'Eye here...

    http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57804

Now IF you're speaking about a top loading Sega CD it sounds to me like the same thing, the door close pinswitch is broken or not being pressed down. (the X'Eye would display "please place a disc on the spindle" or something like that) So in other words the Sega CD thinks the lid is open so it will not initalize the disc. Open your system up and check around.

If it's a tray loading Sega CD well then you've got me, I pass this one on to someone with more SegaCD experence outside of the X'Eye.

If it says "no disc", it knows that the tray is closed but for whatever reason it just can't detect a disc. Could be a dirty, out of adjustment, or defective laser / laser controller.

For the front loader, IIRC if the door-closed switch doesn't engage upon closing it'll eject the tray since it interprets that as something being stuck (sorta like a gag reflex).

Mine is the model II, top loader.

I cleaned it. Any other fixing tips?
