Default Al Nilsen / Spencer Nilsen: Related?

Another trivial mystery I'd like cleared up:

Are Al Nilsen and Spencer Nilsen related?
They both worked at Sega during the same period (Al first, then Spencer), both had fancypants jobs, and Spencer Nilsen wasn't a particularly gifted composer.

Was this a coincidence, or a bit of *** that resulted in the Sonic CD soundtrack being replaced to nearly universal disdain?

***= that damned word that I can't think of at the moment. Narcolepsy? no. Narcissism? No. You know what I mean! Hiring relatives, etc.
Aargh! The harder I try to remember it, the more star systems slip through my fingers.

The word you are looking for is nepotism. And I have no idea if they are related. Sorry.

Spencer's last name is written "Nielson," if I'm not mistaken, so there's probably no relation between the two.

    No, it's definitely "Nilsen".

He has some of his soundtracks available on CD, so it's pretty easy to verify.

I see his name spelled that way everywhere, but it seems you're right.

Hmm, I wonder if there really is any relation.

Are you the "real" Al Nilsen? From Sega?

    No joke.

Yes. I am the "real" Al Nilsen. Formerly of Sega, and not related to Spencer.
