Anyone getting this? I haven't seen much on it, but it's said to make superb use of the stylus and retain the feel of a platformer.
Does it have any puzzle elements in it?
I'll be picking it up today...I'll post my impressions later.
I thought it came out on the 15th or 16th?
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
Ok...played throught the first two levels so far and I like it. Basically they took some stuff from Yoshi Touch and Go and ran with it.
Instead of a high score game, there are actualy "platformer" levels...there are main levels that are broken up into 3 smaller levels, which are then broken up into 3 small areas, and at the end of each main level is a boss battle. The cool thing is that there are 3 bosses to choose from and after you beat one it levels up. So at the end of each level are the same three bosses, but their level of difficulty will be different (I'm assuming the boss battles will be different also). I'm also pretty sure that there will be more boss battles than this (at least one more) because of the "bad guy" they talk about in the opening story.
Now, as stated the gameplay is kinda a mix of Yoshi Touch and Go and Kirby's Dreamland. Kirby moves on his own and you can touch him to speed him up. You can touch enemies to stun them and you can draw paths for kirby, kinda like you do with Yoshi clouds but better. Kirby actually follows the path, and you can make loops and he'll speed up kinda fast like Sonic. Also, there are enemies in the game that have powers just like the other Kirby games...and if you kill them, you absorb their powers which you then use to open up new paths or just kill enemies.
The levels themselves aren't super long, but there is a medal you can collect in each level and I've already missed a few, so it may stretch the game out a bit. I don't know how many overall levels there are in the game so I can't comment on how long I think it'll take to beat. Also, the gameplay is just fun IMO (even funner than Yoshi) so I can see myself going back just to kill enemies and collect stars.
I guess if you like what the DS offers already then you should pick up this game...I don't know if this game will bring any naysayers over the fence, but it's certainly one of the better titles out there.
I'll post anything else new I discover when I do.
And I just found out a little more (boy that was fast)
After you beat a level you unlock it in 2 other modes. One is a time trial (fasters time duh ) and line mode (beat the level using the least amount of ink).
So in addition to the regular game they also have high score stuff
Oh and I forgot...kinda small gameplay bit. When you draw a rainbow (line) it uses ink (and your ink meter will decrease)...however, it will recharge itself when you are not drawing anything. It adds a little challenge and makes it so you can just draw lines the whole time.
I stand correct, it was released today Can't wait to buy this one judging from Drexel's point of view
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
Even more info
Apparently after you beat a boss twice it unlocks that "mini-game" to be played later for high score. Good stuff.
Replay value just keeps rising and rising.
Got it.
Love it.
Picked it up today - Hearing only good thing about it from IGN and Gamespot, also being a big fan of HAL : this was one to get.
To keep this short the game is fun and worth picking up if your a fan of kirby, platformers or if you want a game that cannot be done on any other platform. This game defines the DS's unqiue innovative capabilities.
GET IT
Best DS game in the US, easily.
And in two weeks we get Meteos. And then in July... just... wow... all kinds of goodness in July (Nanostray mostly).
I'd love to get this... but my mom owes me money and cant give it to me
Finaly a DS game worth buying! Well its been awhile since a good DS game has come out, last one was Yoshi. After all of the praises I am no longer hesitating buying this game. I love platformers, I love kirby, so I'm gonna buy it hopefuly tomorrow.
No shit, dude, I looked at Nintendo Power's upcoming DS game list...it's as though Nintendo's decided the "summer lull" should not apply to the DS.Originally Posted by jp

Awesome. I'm quite the Kirby fan, and this seems to be an excellent effort from HAL. Seems like I have one reason more to own a DS... dammit, I can't wait this long for a price drop! >_<
That's it! Next stop: The Junkyard. Population: You!

Well, i managed to get it. And i'm loving it.
All i can add right now is how much the music during file select sounds exactly like the file select music in zelda OOT, etc...
It's not a price drop, but you can get a DS with Super mario 64 new for free at select retailers! EBgames being one of them!Originally Posted by Sotenga

Does Animal Crossing come out this summer? I thought it was going to be October or November. Either way i'm really looking forward to it along with Nanostray and Meteos.
I also got Kirby yesterday and i'm loving it. I'd say it's my favorite ds game so far. I liked Touch and Go and this game has everything I liked about that one with a lot more to it.
