Forget that. I wouldn't take the risk of swapping out the memory cards so close to when the system is going to access them. That's just asking for it. In time they will figure out how to do it without the need for memory stick swapping.

OK, Instead of creating a new thread I will ask here...

Anyone know if Sony has released a revised PSP yet? You know a different version like 1.1 or whatever...

I got SNES9x running on my PSP this afternoon after a bit of research and hassle. Setting up and copying over the proper files to the Memory Sticks is the hard part; performing the swap itself is easy, as you get three or four seconds to do it.

You apparently need a PC with a Memory Stick writer to use the single-Stick trick, and I don't got one of those.

No there are only versions 1.0 (Japanese) and 1.5 (USA) for sale right now. The 1.51 and 1.52 updates have to be done when connected to a wireless access point or when it's required from a new game.

The writers are $20 and a new Memory Stick would cost people more than that. So it would be easier for most people to get the Reader and then there is no swap.

    But I'll stick with my 1.0 PSP . That's MUCH easier. :P

Zack, would you be willing to post somewhere -- either on your website or somewhere else -- how you got SNES9X working? I've tried it myself today, and did'nt have any success with it. I'm wondering if the default 32MB Memory Stick that came with the PSP is one of the problems (my other is a 512 stick).

Also, how well did the emulator work? Which games did you try?

It's immensely fun playing all these old classics on the go (those games that were never on a handheld before of course). Shining force, here I come

Alright, Thank's. Hopefully Sony releases one soon so I can ditch the one I have now. This 1 dead pixel is still annoying me.

I'll try to hunt down the threads that helped me get SNES9x up and running. I assume your PSP firmware version is 1.5, and that you haven't Network Updated to 1.51 or 1.52?

The default Memory Stick shouldn't be the problem. I'm using my Sony-supplied 32MB Stick as the "boot" Stick, and my 512MB SanDisk as the emu Stick.

I haven't tested much yet; EarthBound, Equinox, Ys III, and a few other bizarre picks.

SNES9x works a'ight, although it definitely needs optimized for PSP hardware. I had to choose a mild frameskip setting and low-fidelity sound (or no sound at all) to get anything running at a decent speed. I'm also wondering if perhaps the PSP doesn't have quite enough juice to run SNES stuff at full-speed, but this emu is still VERY raw, so I'm jumping to hasty conclusions, as usual.

Zektor mentioned in another PSP-emu thread that the TG-16, NES, and GB emus are already rock-frickin'-solid, and I concur. I'll never use GBA emus like PocketNES again, since the PSP can show an entire NES screen without scaling or scrolling.

EDIT: This site has pretty much all you need (information, programs, forums): http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ Make sure to hit the news page first, as emus are being updated pretty much every day at this early stage (there's now a version .62 of the TG/PCE emu, for example).

Question for you guys: how much time do you spend with emus on the system compared to regular PSP games?
