I was wondering (and hoping) that Castle SHikigami 2 for the PS2 will end up being a future rare title because i have a sealed copy here but i am dying to play it. What do you think? Should i open it or keep it sealed. x_x

Tough to say. It took me a couple months of hunting in the wild until I found a copy at EB (new but not sealed, of course x_x ). At the time I thought it was pretty rare but lately I've been hearing it's getting more common. I say just play it. Even if it does become a future rarity, I can't imagine a budget title being worth *that* much.
Is EB and Walmart the only stores that sell this game?
It'll probably be uncommon at best.
I'd crack it open and play it if you want, you can score another one for like $10 if you want from ebgames.com.

I say open it. Yeah, its pretty rare, but its the best shmup I've played since Ikaruga. Its either an ultra fun shooter or a valuable coaster. I would say it depends on how much you enjoy shmups. Oh and the translation and voice acting are so bad its classic.
It's never going to be worth a LOT of money, even if it becomes slightly uncommon. Best to enjoy the game today than get absolutely no enjoyment out of it 20 years from now when you find out it's worth $8.
Is there really that many valuable shooters out there? I know most of the PS1 ones I've got are uncommon at best, but the price isn't usually too high.
Shikigami 2 is great though and well worth playing, and wasn't as crapified as its prequal, Mobile Light Force 2.
Holy crap, open it now and play it. Good ol' fun shooter. I took Kamino's advice and bought it, and I love it.
Don't speculate, celebrate!
IMO, if you want to play it, play it. Even if it is rare, it will be 10-15 years before its worth anything.
If you really expect it to be rare and/or valuable in future, you might as well buy 2 copies of it since it's a very inexpensive game at the moment.
Are you kidding me? Good God yes. Try looking at Saturn and TG-16 shmups. At the very least, most of them retain their value, though some (Souky, Battle Garegga and, of course, Radiant Silvergun) seem to go through the roof. Shmup collecting is not for the weak of heart or light of wallet.Originally Posted by Putney
As for Castle Shikigami 2, I've seen a few copies here and there recently without really looking for it. Because it's a budget title, I really doubt it's ever going to be worth much more than what you paid for it. The Japanese version, which was a full price title, might have some worth in the future just because shmup collectors can be purists, but I really doubt the US version is going to be worth much at all.
Good game though. Kudos to XS games for not disemboweling it like they did with Castle Shikigami 1. Now, where's my 1945 1 & 2 and Gunbird Special dammit! Both of those got budget Europe releases. Why'd we get shafted???
Shafted? We don't wants those stupid shumps. We like State of Emergency! USA! USA! USA!Originally Posted by Captain Wrong

my local gamestop has a copy for $10 used, lmk if you want me to pick it up so you can keep your copy sealed.
Given that its on 4 consoles... I doubt it'll ever be rare. If any version will turn rare, it would be the LE DC version.
Yeah, I wasn't thinking when I posted. Owning RS myself, I know some of them are far from cheap. I was thinking mostly of US shooters though, the ones released stateside don't seem to spike too high in value. Took me awhile to get R-Type Delta and G-Darius, but I managed both on the cheap after a bit of looking.Originally Posted by Captain Wrong
if you want rare always aim for LE 1st print pack...
I still have few figures and booklets somewhere in my drawers...
Open it, play it, enjoy it...nothing beats a great shmup except for the gamer who digs his teeth into it.
In all likelihood it won't be rare or fetch insame prices.
...and don't buy it used for ten bucks. I see it so often online new for $8 to $10. Just yesterday I came across it again on two sites. Search Ebgames, buy.com, Circuit City, or Best Buy. It is really easy to get.
...and if in doubt, just buy TWO for that price, and keep one sealed in your closet (like I do).
I say open it. The value of sealed games is common knowledge enough nowadays that you can bet there are people stocking up on today's titles. Can't see anything published in 05 ever really being worth much unless printed in very small numbers..
For god's sake, open it, if you want another sealed copy, my local store still has 2 copies for $13, last time I checked them, they're still in prestine condition, LMK if you want me get it.
