Okay, I'm sure you've seen the ol' 1982 Donkey Kong plush with the plastic face, feet and hands. But have you seen a puppet of the same size and general appearance, but with minor differences in the face/hands/feet, and made by a different company?
On the left is the plush, on the right is the puppet:

At first I thought it might have been a home-made puppet as it seems to be lacking quality in the puppet department, considering it's the same exact pattern they used for the plush.
However, the fact that it has a different hang loop on the head, a different company made it (but both still say Nintendo/Donkey kong, and both have License numbers for USA, and the high quality manfufactoring stitching on the INSIDE of the puppet (which would be impossible at home unless you rip it all the way open and sew it all back up) leads me to believe that it has always been a puppet. Not a gutted plush.
If that's the case I wonder what it's value is. Too bad it's plush is ripped/fraid so badly under it's arms your fingers poke through with ease when you aim for the arms. I see NO Donkey Kong puppets on ebay, even under completed listings.
