    Default Non-video game import question

    Ok, here's the thing:

I'm looking for two things that are only available on foreign DVDs

    -Space Patrol Orion

    A German 60s scifi series

    -Roman de renard

A stop-motion animation film only available in France.

Will I be able to play these on a dvd player (or some dvd player) available in America(U.S.)? And will they play on a recent US tv?

And is there someone who speaks french and/or german willing to watch them and make me a transcript if they don't include subtitles?
Dude, they should have seriously put Kissinger and Nixon in their own reality/sit-com show. It would be like the odd couple.

Nixon: Is that chairman Mao on the phone?
Kissinger: Yes, but you can't speak to him, you're too drunk right now.

Depends. If the DVD player or the DVD itself is region-free, then you should have no problem watching the DVD. However, if both are region-locked, then you can't play it with an American DVD player. I'm sure somebody else can dig up a link about region codes and all that.

Not just that, but the DVDs are likely to be PAL only. You'll need a visual device capable of handling PAL output, or get an RGB output to a device from the DVD player.

Or find a DVD player that can convert PAL to NTSC

Cyberhome has (had?) a bunch of thier players that were easily made region free by a simple button combo on the remote & most of them mentioned being able to play PAL & NTSC on the box.

Finding and buying a region-free player is a simple Google search away, but if you want subs for these movies you might have to find timed sub scripts for them...but to use those you will have to have a region free DVD drive in your computer.

Possibility is infinity! You must be satisfied!

I fits with what I though to be true, but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks everyone: things like this are the reason I spend more time online at Digital Press than anywhere else.
