a couple of years ago i was fortunate enough to meet shigeru miyamoto (creater of the legendary super mario and zelda series's)

this is my zelda 2 signed by the great man, i was just wondering if anybody had an idea as to how much this item could be worth?

Not too much, autographed items rarely get much more than the actual item would. A complete Zelda 2 would sell for 15.00-20.00, this would sell for maybe 30.00

That's just a rough estimate though.

I honestly have no idea. I think the price of autographs has gone down (at least it has to me), because it is so hard to prove if it is real.
Although you do have proof of Miyamoto signing a copy of LOZ 2, you could have had him sign 1 copy, and then forged 5 other copies. I'm not saying that you did, but a buyer could possibly think that.
I think it would go for around $100. Super cool item though!

I dunno it's cool to own though it's only an autograph if you ask me,if you eBay it you could get some good cash for it,put up the pic when he's signing it that will work.

i will say though that this is the real deal 100% and i'll be getting a cert of authenticity soon

I was buying an autographed photo off eBay once, I e-mailed the seller and asked if he had a certificate of authenticity, he said he did.

I won the auction at a little more than I wanted to spend, I got the picture a week later, and my certficate of authenticity was on a piece of Office Max copy paper and it said "This Picture is really autographed by XXXX" and had someone's signature on it.

THAT'S why autograph prices are down now, thanks to eBay and the thousands of fakes floating around.

    But you are :P

That's seriously cool, don't try to put a price on it. When you need glass cabinets and alarms to protect your games, the fun starts to evaporate

I'm not steeped in the market of autograph collecting but, considering Shigi-san is still alive, and the box is kinda ratty, it's not the best benchmark for value. 10 to 20 years after he's dead and if it were a sealed or mint complete Zelda 1, then you'd have a lot of people sitting up to pay attention.

I presume that this was a childhood possession of yours which you had signed more for yourself than with intent to sell, so why even try to put a price tag on it?

That, and the fact the the 2 zelda boxes shown don't look ANYTHING AT ALL like each other. One looks brand new, and the other looks like you pulled it out from under your couch.

Maybe just different lighting, etc... but from a quick glance, that's how it looks.

Personally, I think autographs are almost worthless unless they signed it TO YOU, and then it would really only have personal value. Only exception to the being Caesar's Autograph.

I don't know how many autographs Shiggy signs - if he was a notorious recluse, that'd be one thing. I first thought of the immense popularity of the game series he's helped create, but then I realized there are likely thousands of these.

Heh, I remember thinking a few years ago that I'd have to get him to sign my sealed FDS Zelda and boxed Zelda 1. That'd be great

Well if it's real, it would be worth more to me sentimentally than any amount of cash. I dunno if i would allow hm to sign his name RIGHT on the box though :P

I'm going with Cmosfm. The forging on ebay is rediculous. Found out one time looking for autographed Stephen King books. Did a little more searching on the web and found a whole webpage/group dedicated to helping others watch out for forgers and listing them. Just a sad reality.

    It's the same box.

The chances that the autograph is in the same exact spot on two different boxes are slim to nil.

Didn't check that, as I said, I just glimpsed. REALLY weird photo taking then. They look completely different.

the picture of just the box, was taken at home, using a camera which had the flash turned on, i also somehow managed to mess the pic up by not getting the tatty part at the top in frame

$100 seems to be the going rate on this type of thing.
