    Default Rules for your Gameroom

I'm just curious since I'm pretty sure mostly everyone has their own game room or "room of doom", what are your rules? For example, I dont like anyone with food or drink in my game room since there has been spilled soda in my game room. So what are everyone's rules?

oh, and maybe that Break anything and die thingy, that sonds good.

Yup, Same here. I especially hate when people come into my gameroom with shoes on and muck up the place, though. Pisses me off.

do not leave games in the consoles

put game back on the shelf where they belong

    wrap up your controllers

turn off the tv and receiver

    no smoking

do not open sealed games without asking me first

if the controller is clear, don't use it, its my personal controller. clear blue for xbox/ps2, clear black for n64. no clears for gc or some of the older ones.

Since my room of doom makes me the coolest Dad on the block, my son's friends come in to hang out a lot. A few simple ground rules keep everything in line:

    1. Have all the fun you can stand to have.
    2. If you pick it up, put it back where you found it when you're done with it.
2a. If it's on a shelf higher than you, then I put it there for a reason i.e. - you're not supposed to touch it.
    3. Clean hands before entering. Food and drink allowed at my discretion.
    4. Cartridge-based consoles must be turned OFF before swapping games (I'm tellin ya...these kids today )
    5. I don't care how hard the game is...controller throwing is strictly forbidden.
    6. Not taking fair turns with one another in a game is grounds for immediate dismissal of all kids for the rest of the day/week/whatever I feel like. You are responsible for each other's actions in this sense. If you can't play nicely in here then I've got something called a "yard" you can go play in instead.

Remember: they're not just rules. They're also good advice.

    1. Before playing anything, ask.
    2. No smoking.
    3. No food or drink.
    4. Wash hands before picking up a controller.
    5. If anything becomes damaged, you must buy a replacement before being able to play again.
    6. If you steal something I will have no problem causing physical harm to you.

My room slowly got rules added on to it one by one because of my older brother and his friends. It sucked coming home from a friend's house or from school to find my room a mess and smelling like a bar. The first ever rules were the no smoking and no food or drink.

    1. People are allowed to visit my game room, as long as I am in close proximity of them so they dont have an opportunity to steal something

    2. Ask before you touch

    3. Food is allowed, but be a responsible adult and clean up

    4. Once in the game room, things stay. This means if you donate an item to the game room, it is final. "Indian giving" will no longer be tolerated

Since I rarely invite anyone into my game room (I don;t have any friends that are really into gaming) I only have one rule, and it's for myself. That rule is:

No incomplete CD based games may take residence in my room!!!

Damn. I'm lax as hell. I eat and drink in my game room all the time as does everyone else that visits it. All I ask is that you know how to handle things if you're going to handle them, and to not damage them. Course, I rarely have ANYONE over to my place, and those that do come over are usually hardcore gamers who already know how to handle stuff or at least have a healthy respect for it. I never have any kids in my house, nor would I let kids handle anything.

if you want to play anything cartridge based, you play it on a rom on the computer.

if you want to play a cd game, the basic rule is it better be the exact same way as you found it (put it back nicely, if you scratch you buy/die)

food/drink/smoking = sure. (all my games are in drawers or something, nothing out in the open, other than dvds and stuff on its way out.)

    no little kids. ever.

I don't have a room to exclusively show off my collection, and even if I did, I wouldn't have strict rules. Games are to be played, and not admired at from behind glass/plastic.

Wash hands before playing. I follow the same rule. Ever see "The Aviator"?

Man, buncha antisocial types in here. My game room rules are really the same as my house rules in general:

    1. No smoking/chewing (as in tobacco).

    2. Be nice to my pets.

    3. If I say it's time to power down (i.e. in the event of a storm or something), it's time to power down.

    4. Don't rewire anything.

I won't kill you if you want to play some games though. That's why they're there. I value my collection, but for cryin' out loud, it's a collection of games, and they're meant to be played.

Let me ask this out loud: A couple of you have brought up concerns about people stealing your stuff. Are you just being defensive or are you actually living in a situation where you have to put up with people of suspect character coming in proximity of your collection? I'm not saying you're wrong, but this mindset is somewhat alien to me. I suppose if you're still living at home or you have roommates with friends you don't trust then these situations are possibilities. It never occured to me that anybody would want to steal some or all of my collection. tha's all...

    Two rules:

    Enter in-expectant.

    Leave impressed.

So far no one's broken the second one.

Also, I eat in here all the time. In fact, I'm doing it right now! AND drinking!

I don't have any rules per se, but I hate it when people move things around or don't put things they've touched back how they were. I don't know why it pisses me off so much, but if someone doesn't put a dvd or something back in the exact place it was sitting, I go crazy. Weird little thing I've got =\.

    1. Don't touch anything (obviously).
    2. Wash your hands before you don't touch anything.
    3. Don't even contemplate touching a controller - I shall play for the both of us!
    4. Walk slowly around the room.

    Strict but fair
