    Default PS1 puzzle games?

I'm looking for a game that's a puzzle game like Puyo Puyo but was released for US PS1. I'm going on vacation with my cousins, and am bringing my ps1 with me, so I'd like to have a game like that to play. Does one even exist?

Well, I don't know about Puyo much, so I'll just list some puzzlers I know of.

    Magical Drop
    Kula World
    Mr Driller
The various Pacman games on it [loosely puzzle related]
    Super Puzzle Fighter
    Namco Museum 3's Phozon

I would reccomend either Super Puzzle Fighter, or Intelligent Qube if you can find a copy.

Hasn't this topic been done before?

Well, we've talked puzzle games for sure but maybe not about a specific type of puzzle game. Is Puyo Puyo the game that was made into Kirby's Avalanche by Nintendo? Can you take an SNES instead?

Yes, I believe they are the same game. Also Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for Genesis.

For Playstation, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is the closest to Puyo Puyo that you wil find (in the US at least). Similar games include Cleopatra's Fortune, Puzzle Star Sweep and, to a lesser extent, Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy.

When Sega made Dr. Robotnik's lean bean machine, and when Nintendo made Kirby's Avalanche, both companies called in the help of Compile, who had already made Puyo Puyo. I'm sure there would have been some sort of copyright infringment if these games were made and Compile had nothing to do with them.

Since Compile is no more, it seems that Sega now owns the rights to this franchise seeing as they made Puyo Pop Fever recently.

To topic creator: All you need is Super Puzzle Fighter II. It's a very addictive Tetris clone that plays similar to Puyo Puyo.

there's a PS1 game called Tecmo Stackers that is also pretty damn close to Puyo Puyo and Super Puzzle Fighter. It's a good one if you can find it.

Wow, I didn't even know about that one. Have to add that to The Definitive List of U.S.-Released 2D Playstation Games!
