Default Colecovision error on power up, please help

As soon as I turn it on the following error appears on the screen.

    Turn Game off
    Before Inserting Cartridge
    Or Expansion Module

It does not matter if there is a cartridge in the system or not.

    Thanks

The error just means it cannot see a cart. Coleco units, from my experience, seem to be the most picky systems when it comes to dirt and age.

Just keep cleaning the carts and cartridge slot until it work. Just be careful not to wreck anything in the process (I've dont this - bent a pin in the cart slot when using a slot cleander [like a credit cart with a pad on it]).

Thanks I will try cleaning the system. The carts work in 2 other Colecovisions I have, but i can try cleaning them a bit as well.

I went to clean the connector in the system, and I found that one of the pins is broken and missing, so I guess no amount of cleaning will work there.

Guess I'll just store it and keep it for the switch if needed on one of my other systems.
