Default Any CD Choices For Bizarre Creatures in Monster Rancher?

I now have the first 3 Monster Rancher games (the first two on PS1 and the third on PS2) and wonder if there's any really unique CDs I can use for really wacko monsters. I can just keep trying different ones but I wonder if anyone here recalls any really strange ones they got with specific CDs. I wonder if I'll get a creature with a big S on his chest if I put in the soundtrack to Superman?

On Monster Rancher 2, if you put in prodigy's Fat of the Land CD, you get a red crab, like the one on the album cover

There's some good lists of exclusive monsters that other people have found on www.gamefaqs.com

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. I'll check it out. I don't have the CD you mentioned. I seem to recall you get a Christmas like creature if you put in a certain Christmas CD but I don't remember which one that is. Maybe they'll have it listed there.

Hmmmm...I'm not so sure I even remember Shania ever coming out with a Christmas album. I could be wrong but I have all her other albums (except for one of early material released to take advantage of her stardom) so I'd be surprised if I missed that.

Well, I do have DOA2: Hardcore for PS2 so I guess I'll have to look for that Monster Rancher 4 then. I understand there's also a Monster Rancher card video game of some sort...I don't have that. I've never played any of those card-type games so I wonder if I should even consider getting that?

Collecting those CDs is a lot of work [seeing they're many years old now], you might consider just using codes to get them.

Well, I probably wouldn't go after the CDs...I'd just see what ones I already have are among those they have codes for. And no one could have tried them all...I doubt anyone tried sticking in any Johnny Cash CDs, for instance...

I had a great time with Monster Rancher Battle Card, but if you don't like collectible card games it probably won't change your opinion. I found it to be fun, but the between match interface was kind of klunky and the story was disposable. But the matches and collecting kept it fun for me. I actually found the GBC version to be superior and highly recommend that version.

Thank you...I don't have a Game Boy, though. I guess I'll skip the card version and just stick with Monster Rancher 1-4.

Did you know Monster Rancher 2, when released in PAL, was just called Monster Rancher?

Yeah, that left me confused for a while, until I figured it out. I hate naming changes.

Back before I had the internet, I wrote down what every single CD gave me. And I found a few really unique ones. One in the first Monster Rancher had an actual advertisement on its back. I kid you not.

Of course I don't have that piece of paper anymore, but there are a few FAQs out there that have made notes on rare monsters that can't be breeded and must be found via CD unlocking.

    Like these:
    http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/f...er_cd_list.txt
    http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/f..._cd_list_c.txt
    http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/f..._3_cd_list.txt
    http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/f...r_4_cd_dvd.txt

Pretty much anything with "???" as the listed sub-species is a rare monster.

They're not completely obviously, but they have a few of the rare ones.

Yes, I was at gamefaqs earlier looking for that stuff. I was going to mark some down but when I saw the sheer number of them, I decided to hold off. I may eventually print them out, though.

    When playing Monster Rancher 2, use Monster Rancher for a CD. You get a VERY powerful Yellow Eye guy. Sadly tho, he only lives for one day. ;_;

Anyway, I always liked the Pixie race, so I always looked for really good ones for MR3. I remember something about the Final Fantasy games giving some really cute pixie ones(Like Undine and another one that's name escapes me). I'm gonna have to go get my copy of MR3 from my brother's house and play it. It's been far too long since I played any MR game.

If you have Radiohead's Kid A album, put it into MR3 and you get a blue dog with

That Alan Parsons album with the balloon on the cover gave me a blue fish in MR2.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?

I may still have my CD creation list from when I played both Monster Rancher and Monster Rancher 2 lots. The only CDs that created anything special that I remember was Matchbox 20's debut album which created a monster that had to be unlocked with a special liscense. Most CDs creat either generic monsters with low stats or at best, decent stats generic monsters. Game CDs (non PC) tend to create the best monsters. PC CDs are genearly the worst, and music tend to be a mixed bag of average to some which must be unlocked with either a trainers liscense or certain monster type liscense (dragons, robots, and some others are good examples). Good monsters of choice are Nagas. They tend to be more phisical attacks over magic but they tend to take the stress of training and also tend to live long. Be very carefull not to abuse them with training though as they tend to run away if overly stressed and die if worked to hard. Over the next week or two I may be able to find some of the notes I made for the game listing the stats of each monster in adition to what CDs were used in their creation. DVDs wont work btw, atleast not for the first 2.
