thanks, yea i had that one, couldn't get it to work...so i got rid of it, and installed it again and now it works great...very odd...i just have 1 more question though.

I want to just have only US released roms, but i have a bunch of Roms for each game, and they all have different names:

    Zombies (E) [!]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [b1]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [c][!]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [f1]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [f2]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [f3]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [h1C]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [h2C]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [h3C]
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (U) [h4C]

so what do these all mean and what are the differences?

[E] means Europe, [U] means USA, [J] is Japan, so on. Ideally, you want the rom that has a [!] next to it, because this is supposed to be the proper dump and doesn't have excess data garbage in the file. Most roms play in emulators regardless of overdumps though.

so the [!] means nothing has been messed with?

so what do [c] [b1] etc etc mean...and what does it mean when you have the [c][!] together?

Kega Fusion sounds a lot better and has a higher compatability rate than Gens IMO. Try them both, make your own choice.

Your last topic was locked because you asked a simple question which I answered by referring you to the FAQ (which you should have read before posting in the first place).

Of course that topic was really just like foreshadowing, as it seems to have led to another topic that also could have been easily answered by merely searching with Google.

What amazes me more than that however is the fact that someone with such low searching ability (no offense) was able to download a complete collection of Sega Genesis games. That makes me think that maybe the media is right; if people of this competence level are able to download entire software libraries, then maybe it is time to go after the peer-to-peer networks and shut them down. I was under the impression that, at least at one time, it took a certain level of tecchnical knowledge, eptitude, and curiosity to get into the emulation scene. I think this post just made me realize how low the lowest common denominator has actally become.

By simply typing "best genesis emulator" into Google one can find not only the answers, but also direct links to download them as well! Plus of course, as we have already determined, finding the ROMs is apparently of no challenge either. No doubt, the next post will be "how come this doesn't work right".

Please don't take this personal, as it's not aimed directly at you but more at your entire generation. I could bore you with a million "back in my day" stories, but instead I'll just pick one.

Back when BBSs were still king and the Internet was still learning to crawl, a friend of a friend told me about "emulation". He said these other guys were talking about it on this pay BBS (which was also long distance). So to get my first emulator, I called this long distance pay BBS (which means I paid not only for the phone call but also to access to the board) to download my first NES emulator -- which turned out to be in Japanese. My friend had already downloaded the ROM so he put it on a disk and drove over to my house, and for the next four hours we sat around trying to get the damn thing to work. We'd try different switches, try making sense of the documentation, and more or less bang our heads against the wall trying to figure it all out (about a week later, an English version of the documentation was released). iNES worked; not great, but it ran. The little program pushed my 486 to its limit.

It's amazing to me -- no, amazing is the wrong word. It completely bewilders me that kids today have access to the greatest knowledge base tool of all time - THE INTERNET and still refuse to use it.

We've given an entire generation access to the greatest weapon of all time and they're all either too stupid or too lazy to figure out how to pull the trigger.

well considering that topic was started in 2003, i figured there might be a new best genesis emulator...no need to call me stupid i was searching, and i already had Gens, but i wanted to know what other people thought...and i know emulation can be a touchy subject, so i wanted to be careful before starting an emulation topic, becuz i like DP a lot, and i know if people start talking about stuff they shouldnt, DP can get in trouble...so relax, you don't have to be such an asshole. How am i refusing to use the internet? Every Genesis emulator site is going to say its the best, and i have come to find that DP is the best source for ALL game info, so i wanted to ask here...you know, to use the DP Forum, without some high and mighty mod trying to make me feel stupid for asking questions.

well I guess if everyone here thinks like Flack, and thinks people are stupid for asking question, i won't be posting here anymore...I did all the research, but i still like(ed) to ask what people thought here at DP. I told ALL my gamer friends about DP "you can ask ANYTHING here and you'll have a reply within minutes, and everyone is really nice too"...Flack's just embarressed cuz he locked a topic when he shouldnt have because i SAID i had more questions, and has to try and make me look stupid, and as i was being polite to everyone, it was totally uncalled for...I think someones taking his Mod privaledges too far here.

Flack's no asshole, he's got a right to rant. Everyday there's ten newbie questions that have been asked to death and could have been answered by inputting the phrase in Google.

On the other side of the coin, people are going to continue asking silly questions regardless. There's a question in the technical forum right now asking about Mario Paint's mouse working with or without the original mousepad. x_x

I said about 19 times in that post that it wasn't personally directed towards you -- I pretty much think everyone your age is equally as lazy. I don't believe that you "did the research" first either here or on Google. If you had searched here first you would have found that old post and bumped it by saying, "is this information still accurate?" If you had used Google you would have found Zophar's, GeoShock or a number of other sites which all recommend Gens and Kega.

It wasn't my intention to make you look stupid at all. In fact, you're doing a better job of it than I ever could.

    Carry on, kids.

I have Zophar bookmarked, and that is always the first place I go when i want to find Emulation info...it the case of NES and SNES they have THE BEST ONE listed as such, in the case of Genesis ,they did not make it clear...yes i should have bumped the old genesis topic, your right on that, but that doesnt make me lazy or stupid...like I keep saying i did the research but unfortunatly as we all know, most of the internet is crap...and i always value the input on DP more than anywhere else...is there anything wrong with that?

And just as you don't have to believe that i "did the research', I don't have to beleive your not a crabby old man who has nothing better to do with his time than try and look high and mighty over everyone else...and because of the fact that even if you win a fight on the internet, your still an idiot, I'm done here...shows what you get for asking a couple little questions...this is just ridiculous becuase 90% of the topics on DP could be answered with using google or anything else, its pathetic you have to pick on me Flack
