This is sad news for me and my family. I have an uncle who works at one those locations. He is older and is going to have trouble finding another job.About time is what I say.... There should be some good deals at these locations...

The sad part is that the K-Mart that they are closing here in Muncie is the better of the two stores service-wise.Around here the service at K-Mart is horrible.
Looks like our Maui store is staying.
Drat! Still no mention of the Greenville location!
(walks away grumbling)

Man I loved K Mart!1000 times better than Walmart.Oh well,hope I get some good deals... > x_x :-(
Shit. This is twice our K-Mart has escaped bankruptcy death. I'm amazed, and disappointed.
Incidentally, our K-Mart still has copies of Earthworm Jim 64 on the shelves for $70. I guess they don't get the concept of "clearance rack"..
I hate to say it, but I suspect that many of these stores will ship their game inventories to other locations, as the items are small and easy to sell in all areas of the country. Still, there might be some interesting deals on other stuff.
Of course, I won't be able to check any of them out, as there aren't any closings in my area.
Well, one of the 2 local Kmart on my blacklist is a goner (Miller Rd, Flint, MI) so that's one less crap. That store has almost no PS2 or XBox games and last I checked, no GBA or GC games at all. :P The other store that i thought was going to close is at M-46 near I-75 in Saginaw. Sloppy service, sloppy stuff, etc. Like all the janitors there flunked cleaning school.
I am surprised the one in Auburn Hill (Super Kmart) is being closed as well. The store had an extensive remodeling juist 2 years ago. And the service there were far better than most other Kmart. What did the Execs do... throw a dart against Kmart address book? Granted that store is within a mile of Best Buy, Circuit Ciry, CompUSA, Meijer, Target, and a honking big shopping mall (Great Lakes Crossing) but still they didn't look like they were suffering.
Another day, another dollar... wake me when it's payday.

Looks like they're closing the K-Mart right across the road from where I work (in Dearborn). They close the one in Novi (where I live) in the first round. Oh well, I haven't set foot in a K-Mart since I worked there almost 9 years ago.

I think the Grand Blanc store needs to go. It's always void of people and I know first hand from working with the crew there, they are all cranky bitches.Originally Posted by CrazyImpmon

I don't understand this. There are several Kmarts in my area. Most are ghetto, stink horribly, have bad service, and are too small and cramped for a customer to have any kind of pleasant shopping experience. One is really nice, with bright lighting, wide aisles--the kind of store anybody would like to go to (Martha Stewart would be proud). So, of course they're closing the nice store. > What are these people smoking? Its gotta be some new drug stronger than than anything currently on the black market. Otherwise, they have no excuse!

That sucks. They have a Kmart gas station there that I stop at every other day or so to fill up on gas on the way home from work. By far, the cheapest gas around. .25 cents less a gallon than others at times. The Auburn Hills Kmart was always jammed with Mexicans (migrant workers?).
Throwing a dart at a map probably was their "strategy". I used to work at Kmart International Headquarters in Troy, MI. and dealt firsthand with a lot of these idiots who ran the company into the ground.
yeah 2 around me are closing so that leaves just 1 super k within 100 miles I think
@Tempest: would that be the Super K on Ford between Southfield & Greenfield? My wife works at Regency Court (the Darth Vader building) across from that K Mart. that one is a hell hole, I HATE going in there.
I rarely visit GB area as it's so far (I know it's next to Flint but 10 miles or so) If that's the same Kmart I'm thinking of, is that the one where the entire Jewelery and Electronics dept in a space smaller than a 1 car garage? If so, that one defiantly needs to go or at least get a bigger building.Originally Posted by Achika
