I remember seeing screenshots and thinking it looked lame as hell, but then when I played the demo of it on an Official Playstation Magazine demo disc I fell in love and just had to buy it.

Incredibly fun title. No idea why it didn't get more love, it had it all... great action, lots of adventure, solid platforming, a wacky story, slick 2d graphics...

Never did play the sequel. One of these days I'll track it down and try it out. Going to have to play through Tomba again though...I haven't played it in years.

    Man, good times.

I have it's sequal, which plays out in 2.5D style. It's rather enjoyable, if somewhat hard without a guide to complete.

I always wonder why it was renamed Tombi.

Ahh...Tomba. I remember when I first received the demo for it in the mail one day. I played it and completely fell in love with it. I must've beaten that demo a hundred times while waiting for the game to actually come out. It's easily my 2nd favorite PS1 game of all time (Brave fencer Musashi is #1), and it doesn't get nearly as much recognition as it deserves. I still haven't played through the sequel...gotta do that someday.

I picked up Tomba! as I got lots of recommendations for it, but have yet to play it. GameStop just lowered their price for it. In fact, I saw a complete one there today for something like $13.

I am such a fan of the game, I dyed my hair pink just like him!

But i'm getting bored of it now, so might dye it back to something a little more normal.

Still - What a great game the first one is! Much better than it's sequel!

I've heard that Tomba 3 was in developement a while back before Whoopee Camp disbanded(?). I seem to recall that many of the people behind Tomba went on to develope other games, but my memory is a bit fuzzy. Regardless, Tomba 3 never saw the light of day and likely won't. It's a damn shame since the first two were so good.

Haha, one of my co-workers (pretty young guy) told me about how much he likes this game, and more than once. Funny to hear...see it again so soon.

I'll join in giving a shout to Tomba!

Easily one of my PSX favorites

Definitely doesn't get alot of credit, I too got the demo disc and was entranced. Bought it when it came out. I never checked out the sequel though....some day i suppose

I'm joining the "played the demo many times before it was released" party. The first game is much better than Klonoa in my opinion. They need should make a sequel and release it for the DS!

I played the hell out of the demo but never bought the game. I remember you could slide down little hills and there were leaves everywhere.

It's interesting that this game is being talked about now because it's one of the games reviewed in the classic section of Game Informer that just came in the mail today. They give the game a solid 8.25 score. I remember playing it but don't recall if I still have it. I'll have to check and if I do, I'll pull it out and play it later. If not, I'll look for it at EB Games since I'm goling up to the mall today to see a movie...

The developer title screen just SCREAMS great title with Tomba!

    ...
    ooooh Whoopee!
    ...

    WOAHMYGOD!

I remember playing the demos so much. I didn't like the first one that much, but then played Tomba 2 and loved it. I then went back to the original and had a greater appreciation for it.

as good as or better than klonoa? damn, ill have to try them out. i went on a tear trying to find these games a while back, and oddly enough, found 1 and 2 in the same day at different stores. might have to dust em off and give em a try.

also just found the tomba 2 guide at gamestop yesterday, so i might be able to beat the game!...they dropped their guides prices to .99 for used(for anyone who didnt know), so i bought about 30 guides, though tomba 2 is kind of the shining star of the bunch..
