    Default Those Tiger Electronics handhelds...

Have you ever played a handheld Tiger Electronics port of a popular game that impressed you?

I must admit that was I was intrigued by those things in the late 80s since my parents wouldn't permit me to purchase a Gameboy, so I settled for a portable Tiger port of Gauntlet as the next best option in portable gaming. Looking back, I have to say that I have never played a Tiger portable that was truly impressive, even compared to games from the Atari generation that the Tiger Electronics ports succeeded.

If you've ever played a worthwhile Tiger Electronics port, mention it!

By the way, the Game.com handheld nor any of its respective titles do not count as a Tiger Electronics ports for the purposes of this thread.

Not sure if you mean that the Tiger game impressed me or the popular game impressed me. I played Mega Man 2 and 3 Tiger handheld. Im not really impressed by them, but they are ok to play.

I remeber borowing simon's quest and gauntlet from a friend back in jr high.

gauntlet was pretty unforgetable. There was something about simon's quest though, it was simple...totally having little to do with the original (save the day night thing) but I found myself playing it for hours.

years later a differnt friend found a huge pile of tiger games at a yard sale ,including simon's quest, and he gave it to me, I still have it to this day (shoved on my gameboy shelf)

the mmpr one wasn't so bad either, but kinda hard to figure out what was going on.

This is how the Tiger Electronics handhelds to which this thread refers look:

Tiger Electronics handheld ports of popular games are distinguished by their lack of fluid animation.

I have to admit that a friend of mine did own a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles handheld game that was actually pretty decent given its crude simplicity and lack of animation. To my recollection, however, the game was not manufactured by Tiger.

Correct. That Turtles game isnt made by Tiger. Its bigger and doesnt have the Tiger shape. A friend had it, used to play it Tiger did make 2 handheld with Turtles tho.

Right on! I knew that TMNT game was too fun to be a Tiger handheld!

In all seriousness, I'm glad that you're familiar with the game I'm talking about and I'm pleased that you've come to back me up (which sustains my choice in casting a negative vote toward those Tiger Electronics handhelds).

The only one that was better than the original (and I don't think anyone will fight on this) was Home Alone. However, I loved those Ninja Turtle games. I have two and I am looking for the other two I used to have. I was such a dumbass giving them away when I was small.

Hmm, Mega Man 2 was good fun, and I actually managed to beat it once or twice. That game is HARD. Ninja Gaiden was pretty decent too.

The only one I have ever liked was the Wizards & Warriors one from Acclaim.

It was super fun and helped me get through some long car trips before I had a Gameboy.

I used to have Aladdin if that title counts.

I currently own a Street Fighter II handheld and it's not too bad, but it's incredibly easy. Still pretty fun though.

I voted a big thumbs down for Tiger. I liked the Game & Watch and Konami games a lot more than any of Tigers. Seems like they just made a few sets of logic and just changed the graphics depending on the liscense. Still they were better than some of the generic "Race Game" types that were around then.

I really liked these back in the day, I used to take them to family get togethers when I didn't feel like game boy-ing it up. I recall the Mega Man games being really fun for their time. I'm sure they haven't aged well at all, though.
