WHERE DID THEIR HAIR GO?
Not a surprise, the information on how to do this has been available for quite sometime before the release. And your link is dead.
I assume its about adding a cartridge port?
I just tried the link 2x and loaded fine?...........Originally Posted by Leo_Ames
Yes, it's about adding a cartridge port, knew the info was available, my point being it's now been done............

WHERE DID THEIR HAIR GO?
Works now, didn't multiple times a couple minutes ago. His site's not working very well at the moment, tried looking some other stuff there and was having difficulty.
Uhh.. you realize it was designed from the start to allow this right? :POriginally Posted by OldSchoolGamer
Has anyone here tried the hack?
I have zero experiance with such things, the most ive done is install some Lithium-Ion batteries, but I could really use a way to play all those 2600 carts I have lying around, heh.
Sorry, I was always more of an O^2 guy, but I still think the 2600 is great.
Welcome to Macintosh.

Yes, been following from the begining, again, my point, it's now been done...just noting what appears to be the first, or one of the first attempts, that is all........................

Well yeah of course it was done. It HAS been done for months. They DESIGNED it to allow you to do this from the very beginning! That page you're linking to? That's Curt Vendel's page.. One of the major players in the release of this thing :POriginally Posted by OldSchoolGamer
I guess supposedly the reason they didn't put a cart port from the start was they didn't want to deal with the support hassles from consumers asking why their old games didn't work. So the solution was to make it so those who are interested could do it themselves. Why else would there be a legend silk screened on the board to help modders out?
From that page:
"To assist in your Cartridge Mod additional to the console, a legend was silk-screened onto the board for easy reference."
OK.....fine.......Well yeah of course it was done. It HAS been done for months. They DESIGNED it to allow you to do this from the very beginning! That page you're linking to? That's Curt Vendel's page.. One of the major players in the release of this thing :P

How about buying an actual 2600 for about the same price as a flashback?Originally Posted by MrRoboto19XX
The point isn't that it's the greatest 2600 replacement; moreso that for people who like to hack/mod things (ie handheld atari systems) they will no longer have to cut up original hardware to do so.
#1. Nearly all of us have a couple of original 2600's already.Originally Posted by slip81
#2 Nice a/v output as compared to the RF output of the original VCS. Yeah you can mod an original, but then that's pretty much the same as adding a cart slot to this.
#3. Don't forget the new games in there like Asteroids Deluxe, Adventure II, Return to Haunted House, Lunar Lander, Space Duel, the port of Cavern of Mars, Yars Return, Arcade Pong (w/ the 1 player variation), amongst others.
#4. Pure collecting niftiness
Id love to find a 2600, however they seem to elude me.
In a way its my own fault, so far my collection is purely things Ive found in "The wild".
Of course, if anyone is willing to donate to such a noble cause.....

They mentione two sites to buy those parts from, but I don't see them listed anywhere.
Also, those are the two most unorganized sites in the world. Best looks just like it did in the late 90s. What are they thinking? Don't they want to sell stuff?

The moral is, don't **** with Uncle Tim when he's been drinking!
I picked one of these up last week. Best plug and play on the market by far. Adventure II and Return to Haunted House are fun.
Yeah, I got it working the other day on about 3/4 of my carts that I tried. Still got an issue with long wires or the 5v level, not sure which.Originally Posted by MrRoboto19XX
I was going to post a report on AA (where the real FB2 fans are) but can't find my usb camera cable right now.
The joysticks are identical but built with microswitches, they feel great. Worth the $30 just for them.
