If I was you I would just get a Sony Memory card, You can get them pretty cheap now.
San Quentin, may you rot and burn in hell.
May your walls fall and may I live to tell.
May all the world forget you ever stood.
And may all the world regret you did no good.
Mad Catz makes 3rd party cards as well as other accessories.
Sony is still the best though.
You'll want to be quite wary of compressed cards, as in those that store more than 15 blocks.

Don't buy the Mega Memory card...I bought one a long time ago, and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Once I had a saved file on almost every block on the mega memory card...and I go to play a game later, and all the data is erased. Boy, was I pissed.
Don't even bother with 3rd party, it's not worth the risk. 1st party cards are pretty cheap now (EB and Gamestop both sell them for $2.99 used).
I guess if I had to pick a third party memory card, there's a Interact Lara Croft card that looks pretty cool:
I'd get it for show, but I'd NEVER use it on games.
PS1 or PS2, hell, any machine that uses a memory card.
3rd party cards are absolute shit. There are lots of other things for any console that can be cheaped out on, but spend the extra few bucks and get first party memory cards.
I've been burned by Interact's "kwality" cards. Just get the Sony ones... save the hassle.

Like the others said, don't even bother with 3rd party memory cards. Sure, you can get lucky and have a 3rd party card that works beautifully, but I've never had a 1st party card crap out. I wouldn't enjoy a lost save file.
Since you asked, if I HAD to, I'd use a PSX card made by Performance. Mad Catz? Once upon a time they USED to be a good maker.....but their quality has plummeted and now they're just cheap junk forced onto you by EB and Walmart.
You can get a DexDrive for PS1 on ebay for $0.99. Who wants to keep track of 20 memory cards? I still buy Sony PS1 memory cards whenever I see them on clearance, but since getting a DexDrive, I haven't even taken any new cards out of the package.
Aaron.
I've used all types of memory cards.
Including the Lara Croft one...
I also have one of the "3D" Spider-Man ones.
Makes it easier to tell your cards apart.
The only one that failed on me was the mega memory card 8000. One of those compressed ones w/ several "pages" of memory. Its failure was a loss of the ability to switch between pages - the page its stuck on still works fine.
Since then, I've stuck with Sony memory cards when I'm playing a game. When I'm done, I'll transfer the save to a 3rd party card to store it.
From what I've seen, most cards work well enough. Just stay away from the compressed ones.
Always looking for more SMS. And Resident Evil too.
I have a green third party card (don't know the company) that I used once several years back, and when I booted it up again recently it still had some data. I was surprised.
Still, I'd go for the first party ones.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?
Keep in mind, nothing works forever, and even Sony cards will die on you sometime.

But they'll likely last longer than third-party cards, right?Originally Posted by Haoie
Well, all of my Sony cards still have all their Data in them. Of course they won't last FOREVER, but it'll definetly last long enough. Hell, it'll last longer than "enough".
Yes, most likely so.Originally Posted by DigitalSpace
The thing with flash memory is that failure rises the more times you save with it. Several 1000 times seems like a good bet.
Compare that to cart battery saves, which gives out after time passes.
