You ever play a game that could have been terrific, but for some odd reason it just wasn't? If so, what would you have done to make it the game you'd hoped it would be?
My own personal choice is Athena on the NES. I loved Super Mario Bros.-style platformers when SNK first released this, and when I first looked at the box art I thought it would be fantastic. Then I got it home and discovered that it was anything but, thanks to the cheap enemies and awful level design. That ruined what could have been a really enjoyable Super Mario Bros. derivitive.
I think the sequel to Star Gladiator on Dreamcast could have been a lot better, too. Capcom would have needed to polish it up a lot to make it worthwhile, but I would have bought it in a heartbeat if they had made just one change...
