Default Help! Broken Colecivision Multi Cart!

    Hi There,
Not sure this is the right place to ask so I thought I'd give you guys a shot. I acquired a Colecovision multi-cart through a trade and it worked fine for quite some time, now for some reason the cart powers up and I get the menu, but every time I select a game, it just resets the menu and the game won't start up. I tried contacting the person I got the cart from with no luck. Any ides of who might be able to repair the cart or where I could buy a new one?

    Thanks,
    Phil

What the? Is that a pirate Colecovision cart? You don't see many of those....

Your contacts are all clean on the cart and system? All other games are working fine? Nothing is moving inside when you shake the cart a bit, does it?

I have a hunch that cart has an EPROM in it, if it is indeed a pirate like Jumpman's (at least most pirate VCS games from that era that I've found have them...dunno about Coleco)...I have a bunch of Brazilian pirate VCS games that have suffered some pretty wacked bit rot over the years....I wouldn't put it past this one if my above guesses are right. You may want to find a way to get that cart dumped, if at all possible, if it is of any value to you...then you can burn a new EPROM and hopefully play the games again. But probably, that isn't worth it since pirate carts are considered to basically have no value, heh heh.

Or, it could just be a bad solder joint in the cart...can you open it and take a look inside? Sometimes pirate games made in crappy factories were hand-soldered and the joints are sometimes terrible. Resoldering all the joints has helped a couple of pirate carts I had that were failing.

But again, this is all based on the assumption that this is a pirate...I really don't know.

Also, shouldn't this be in the repair forum (Yeah, I know...What repair forum? Heh heh...seems it isn't the most popular section)?
