Dont ask me but I get susicious when I see component video mods on such old systems. I know most can do RBG, which is supposed to be the best.

Componet, while hundreds, if not thousands of times better than rf, as long as you get the rca audio outputs, i do have to say that it is no where even near 'the best'. S-video is a heck of a lot better, then yuv, rgb, and vga being some of the best, countless times better than RF, and even componet and s-vid! A HD hookup, however, is always the absolut 'best'! that is if it is on a hd tv and not using any downgrade boxes.

I think its safe to assume that the 2600 does not support HD. Playing non HD things on an HDTV is not ideal, in my experience. That is why I took back my HDTV. I dont care how movies and football games look. If it makes NES games look worse, it goes back.

I was definitely using an RCA cable. I think the problem is in the progressive scan up-conversion. Play Ninja Gaiden on an HDTV, and watch the background blur up or do something weird when you move.

You musta had a messed up or a 'cheap' (compared to others) LCD hdtv or something for that to be going on, or, did you have it set to wide screan for the time that you were playing your NES? some games may appear blury when moving left or right if they are designed for a square screen and then streatched out to fit in the 16 by 9 ratio wide screens.

It was not widescreen. It was not an LCD tv. It was cheap, however. The TV also displayed normal cable channels worse than a normal TV. That is why I stay away from HDTV.

Are you sure you are talking about a real high def tv? Are you sure it was not just a flat screen? a cheap crt flat screen tv maybe? All real hd tvs are wide, with the 16:9 picture ratio. some just have higher screen ratios and lable themselves as high resolution tvs. this is what i have in my room, a crt high resolution tv, but in my living room, i got a high def tv, and a giant one at that, high quality lcd as to get no blurs (most lcd hd tvs use newer tech as to not get the blurs with movement).

Well, the first TV I tried said it supported High Def resolutions. It certainly looked good when playing Xbox on it. The second TV I got specifically because it was only Progressive scan and not high def. This TV produced the same effect. Finally I actually took my NES to best buy and tried it on several TVs, and I noticed the distortion on all HDTVs I tried, and none of the normal TVs.
