Dont feel bad. Out of the 300 or so games I have between the ten or so systems I own, none of them are too rare or too valuable. I just love games. Thats waht its all about. I just collect because of the nostalgia. Although in your case it would seem as though these are the days that will later be classified as nostalgic to you.

And dont let other members of this forum prevent you from voicing an opinion or just stating how you feel at the moment. i have seen stupider posts. I think that when we do this to other forum members who may not have been on as long it really demeans the site on a whole. I myself have not been on that long. I dont post much. So what does that make me? A lurker? Is my opinion anymore or less important than someone who has been a member of the site five minutes longer than I have. i think not.

Keep gaming man, and who knows by the end you may have more rare and valuable games than all of us put together.

Don't fret, my rarest game is probably Knuckles Chaotix.

Rare shmare, get them cause you like them not cause you got to have them. An R6 isnt a common game so what if its not worth a bunch. The NWC cart is a cool grail sure, but really the contents are nothing special.

    How young are you?
I'm only 19 and I have a pretty freaking big collection with a few grails in it also. I even have completed the libraries of a few consoles.
Its not about how old you are... its about how much you care about your collection.

Meh who cares about rare? This isn't a cock measuring contest. I have very few rare games. In fact the rarest game i have is probably Tengen Tetris.

Collect what you can. In time you'll find something rare, but there's no sense worring about it. Enjoy the games you have.

    Agreed,
This is not a contest to see how big your willy is. If your'e constantly braggin' about something -- well . . . it becomes more difficult to believe.
If your big limitation is funds, be smart about it. Pick up the games that will give you the most enjoyment milage v/s its rarity. If you get lucky and score something pretty cool on the cheap -- that's a bonus.

As for good and cheap, look at the Atari 2600. Go on -- it doesn't bite hard. Most of the better games for the platform are _REALLY_ common. Titles such as River Raid and Kaboom -- which I cannot play on anything but the original hardware because I can't be as precise with the controller nub v/s the paddles. Frogger, Demon Attack, etc.

Here's the best part, even if your'e not that excited by a common game, you really aren't out that much money. For example, I bought a pretty rare 2600 title for $40 or so. I played it once. It's not that terrifically fun. I definately didn't get my money's worth out of it.

Now, shift gears to Katamari Damancy $20 new. I played the _blazes_ out of it. It's an awesome game. I got my money's worth from a quirky bargain price-point game. go figure.

    Hope that helps.

How big of a selection of DC and Genesis games does that gamecrazy have? And do they have stuff for any other older systems pre-dreamcast?

Don't feel bad about not having a good collection. You may see a lot of posts regarding a nice collection, but you don't see a lot of posts by people who feel like they are in your position. I assure you that you aren't alone.

I don't have many rarities either, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying what I do have.

How long have you been collecting? All the rares I have (and its not many) have been acquired dirt cheap in the wild. I'm pretty proud of my collection, but I've sure it pales compared to most here. You don't need much money to get a good horde going, just patience. One piece of advice, sell nothing. Once it goes into your collection, it should stay there.

Aside from my 90% complete collection of black box NES games, I have nothing valuable at all. I have too many bills to worry about to buy something expensive that will sit on the shelf. Just like another s1lence said, most of the grails out there aren't worth your money, gameplay wise. Once you get a little older and get a job, you'll be able to afford all the games you want. Until then, keep hitting up Game Crazy-they're bound to have another 3 for $15 sale soon enough.

Yeah, how young are you? If we're talking "too young to get a job", then I commend you for giving these old games a shot, and not simply dismissing them as "These graphics suck, I wanna play Halo 3!"

Anyway, you seem to be marveling at the "Room of Doom" collection pictueres; all these guys with millions of dollars worth of gaming junk. Just keep in mind that most of those rooms represent stuff amassed from years and years of gaming. If you're as young as you imply, then you're probably just starting out. All I can tell you is forget about owning a big room full of complete collections and rare games; it's about the journey, not the destination. Just be a gamer and let the stuff trickle in naturally. And for god's sake, ENJOY it. You know all this "good old days" stuff we talk about in here? That's what we're talking about.
