Kinda old news.

I'm actually very surprised to see Gamestop selling this. It had been my impression that they were moving away from selling anything retro...
Kudos to Messiah though. If this helps them move more units it should keep them going strong. They have lots of great hardware ideas, and I think they are just getting started.

BTW, according to Messiah's website, the launch of the NEX is pushed to October (it was originally supposed to launch this month).
Most of them don't carry any older systems/games, but they do stock the plug-and-play stuff. Maybe they think it's one of those types of "systems".I'm actually very surprised to see Gamestop selling this. It had been my impression that they were moving away from selling anything retro...
How is it old news? I see no mention of it being sold at Gamestop in those links you provided.
Wanted and willing to fairly pay for:
Final Fantasy III Hat/Cap (Official Squaresoft)
Philips CDI 740
NTSC Proto of Daze Before Christmas (SNES)
wow, i really want mine. I preorded way back when it was first posted on messiah's website thinking i could pick it up at CGE. I thought it would have been shipped off at least by now . oh... well... guess i will just have to wait a bit longer.Originally Posted by Lady Jaye

Meh, it does say october now for the pre-order on their site... Oh well, I have plenty to keep me busy now I get it I suppose. Still dying to get my hands on mine though...
Sonic is a bitch, all he can do is run.
I had high hopes for the NEX after I first heard about it. I was pretty much ready to shell out all of the money after hearing of it's wireless pads and other system functions. What really killed me, was NO actual screenshots of the system. I'm sorry but CG shots/mockups don't do it for me when money is involved. :/
I've been waiting for this console.
I can't wait to get one.

I'm still waiting for some compatibility reports. The FAQ on their site makes me wary about buying one.
Zelda is NOT an RPG.
having actually played one at CGE, i can say that it works pretty damn well, and if i hadn't had one of the fancy wireless controllers in my hand and could see the system sitting on top of the tv, i could say that i didn't know i was playing anything but a regular old NES. it doesn't seem to have any problems handling unlicensed games either, as we popped a copy of bible adventures in to give a whirl.Originally Posted by junglehunter

I heard about it, but I never really read into it as I had no idea what it was!
But both NES and Famicom slots, with wireless, and wired compatibility! Wow, it's one of those consoles that came out years ago with wireless
I got to play some River City Ransom on the NEX, and for some reason, the first screen/few minutes of play the colors were WAY off into psychedelic land, but after a bit it smoothed out to normal. Don't know if it was the NEX or the game that started out funky, but it fixed itself after. And more importantly, it played just fine.Originally Posted by Perkar

Got any obscure game stuff?
Now did you guys see the NEX system in EGM?? Its in the back regarding the NES's 20th Anniversary. No details or anything just the rendered shot of the system and a brief article on famiclones.
Same here. The additional info about it having extended graphics modes gives more evidence that it is based on an older NOAC. There were documents floating around about a NOAC with such capabilities. Personally, I care more for accuracy than extended graphics modes.Originally Posted by Leroy
I want to know if Castlevania III is compatible fully with no glitches. If so, then I will talk purchase.
At CGE, they had really basic games setup, 1942, Super Mario Bros, and they looked great. I am really curious about the other advanced chips though. I will wait until people get theirs and then ask about compatibility.

I preordered @ CGE and just waiting for the system to show up thats the first cart i'm gonna try. That and Kirby they both use the MMC5 chip. I love the Kirby games, pissed if it doesn't work. If you care I'll post here or on the main board.
