The 3rd party ones, yeah....Konami makes 2 types of controllers for CS versions. "regular" and arcade style.

Briefly looking through the Guitar Hero website (find it at www.redoctane.com) it says you will use up to 5 fret buttons. Sounds like you need a crummy RO/Topway guitar for it.

For Beatmania I have a third (or perhaps first) version of the controller that Konami released/Ascii produced for the PS1. Of course it's nowhere near the quality of those two ... There's a picture of it HERE. I would imagine this older version wouldn't work with IIDX or above as it has only five buttons ...

Yeah, the PS1 games just used 5 keys. The PS2 games let you play 5 key mode, but only on the normal difficulty level for each song.
