Default What's the most you would pay for a single game?

Just curious - I'm noticing that pricing on some of these things are getting ridiculous, so I thought that I would ask the question:

How much would you pay for a single game (loose or complete), and what game/system would it be for?

This includes ALL systems - 2600 era to present.

Perhaps I am naive here, but I think that some of these prices are just outright crazy. Perhaps some replies will change my perception of what is a "good price" or not.

For me, probably $40-$50 at the most. Anything higher can do without my money till they lower their prices.

For me, my ideal range is under $40. I rarely buy any game over $30 even. I've only ever made 2 exceptions that I recall, and that was getting Qb limited edition (cost me just over $100 CDN with shipping), and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 on boxing day ($66 CDN with tax)

Though, in the near future, I'll be upping the limit to about $65 when I get my gamecube, because I'm too impatient to wait for Mario Party 4 to drop in price

In CAD, $80 - which is the most a new game for today's consoles goes for. No matter what Wind Waker goes for (mostly likely $70) I'll be picking it up come hell or high water.

For the most part I set a different limit based on the console. $80 for new games but I won't spend more than $30 say on N64 games (which is why I haven't gotten any recently - they're still over $30.

At the lowest end is the VCS. I'd pay maybe $10 for a game with rarity that I *really* wanted, but for the most part I don't go over $5 for that machine.

(all prices in CAD, which, probably, is about $5 USD at most )

if i could afford it, there are games that i would pay 4000+ for. right now the most i could pay for a single game would be a couple hundred.

I'm trying to get a complete saturn collection and when I still need one game, I won't wait till I find it at my price and just pay the price it goes for ebay. Luckily I already have most of the expensive ones.

I have a complete Quadrun. I think that sums up how much I pay for items: in some cases, as much as it takes

For really good must have games like PSO or Metroid Prime for GC, I'd go as high as $50 and the lowest advertised price usually wins.

For used games, probably $20 at most unless it's really good and desireable at the same time (ie Panzer Dragon Saga for Saturn) than I may go as high as $50.

I've paid up to $200 before for a game. That's about the max I'd ever even consider paying, and VERY few games would make me want to pay that much. I'd say on the average I'd pay $30-70 US depending on the game. Ususally...I'm cheap and won't pay over $40 unless it's impressive tho!

Depends on the system for me.

    Most for a 2600 cart - $75
    Most for a Vectrex cart - $75
Most for an NES cart - $15
Most for an arcade game- $150

And, of course, the usual $45-$55 for a brand new PS2/GC/Xbox game.

You see, "insane price" is in the eyes of the beholder. You wanna talk nuts, check out the price on Neo Geo games. Holy MOses....

Most I've paid for a game was 500 for my MK2 cab.

Most I've paid for a console game was 130, and yep it was a neo geo game. That number might increase soon though.

$30 is my limit on everything except for games I know I will still be playing heavily in a year (Tony Hawk, other Sports games, Monkey Ball...)

    Everything else can wait.

I guess $40, though it would have to be a new game I really wanted for me to pay that. More than $20 for a single game only happens about once a year for me.

$3000-$4000 for gold NWC, and that's it. Next highest would be an unreleased NES proto or a grey for $1000-$2000.

I paid 4k for a gold NWC cart.

I can't think of any single game I would consider more valuable so I guess thats the limit for now.

I liked better when eBay had gold NWC for *under* $1000 and a grey one for about $500. It had been only 3 years ago. Back then I had a chance to get one and I was sniped at the last minute. Not a few dollars difference but $100 difference.

I generally don't spend too much on single games. I pay the standard prices for new games. I do try to find the best prices. I have a stack of newer games I haven't even touched yet though. I think about 20 to 30 for something used if I really want it. I'd go pretty high if it was something I really wanted. I have never gone out and spent over 100 on a single game yet. My collection is small enough where I still can find used games which I need at good prices. Maybe one day I will be willing to spend more, but for now I stick to the low end stuff.
