Default Should an original PS1 s-video cable work with a slim PS2?

I finally got around to purchasing a PS2 (the slim version), but I've run into a small issue: I thought that video cables for the original PS1 were compatible with the PS2, but my original grey Sony s-video cable (SCPH-1100) that I've used for years with the original PS1 does not fit properly into the PS2. I tried calling Sony but they were no help. Should this cable work with the PS2?

    Check out http://www.us.playstation.com/CompatibilityChart.aspx

It boils down to this: The "PlayStation" A/V and S-video cables made after the release of the PSOne will work on all 4 system types, but the original PlayStation cables do not.

Have you tried using your PSTwo cable on the PlayStation?

Thanks. I've actually owned both models of the PS1 and my s-video cable worked with both no problem. That's why I was a bit confused when it didn't fit the PSTwo. I no longer have an original model PS1, so I can't try the PSTwo cables on it. I took a closer look at the s-video cable and it appears that the slot on the botton of the connector is narrower than on the PSTwo cables.

It's too bad Sony wouldn't make a this a bit more clear on their website. They don't seem to specifically mention this anywhere.

Hm.. I've used my original PSX cable with my PS2. No problem at all.

I have SCPH-10060, which is the current version of the S-Video cable. The manuals for the PS2 and PSTwo both specifically mention this model of cable.

The PlayStation (all four models) and PSOne manual mention your SCPH-1100 cable.

Just for fun I tested my SCPH-10060 cable with my PSOne and it worked. I'm not really sure why your cable isn't fitting properly. I'm also not sure of the differences between the 10060 and 1100 models of the cable, since they both work for all systems. The pictures I have seen of the 1100 show it being black, like my 10060. So either the pictures I have seen are wrong, or they changed the cable slightly and kept the same model number.
