Great, more imports I have to hunt down and pay exorbitant prices for.

    Excellent column.

Just a slight correction to the article about Punch the Monkey. the title is a play on the name of the manga artist, not the title of the comic/anime. Kazuhiko Kato started drawing Lupin III in 1967, and has always gone by the pen name 'Monkey Punch'

Wow without asking for it, this is exactly what I wanted to see.

thanks for that correction- the funny thing is, i asked a friend of mine (who's japanese) about this, and that's what he said, but his english is as bad as my japanese (especially after a few drinks), so i ended up with some scribbled down notes and just ran with it.

oddly enough, if you look at the end of the lupins running on cartoon network, they make the same mistake, so i'm glad i'm not the only one, lol...

    He mention about learning Japanese
    He included a link yesjapan.com
I see that you have to pay for this service. Not wanting to pay for this service, are there any alternative sites that teach Japanese for free?
I like Nintendo's, They are Super.

Greg's always-interesting column features a new edition as of this weekend, check it out - especially if you're interested in how games are "localized" from Japan.

    UPDATED TODAY.

Check out Greg's primer on "rally-style" driving games, including lots of interesting imports that you might want to check out if you're a fan of the genre.

This one was really interesting to me, import RPG's... did you know there was a ZORK I game on the Saturn? How about on the PlayStation?

Fine reading, as always. I knew Wizardry was big in Japan, but I never knew it was that big.

I'd really like to check out Klaymen Gun Hockey. Is it hard to find?

And there's one minor mistake: the header for the page reads "Did You Know? -Rally Games."

I second Kid's request for more info on Gun Hockey. Where the heck can you find one?

very intresting article. Did the Saturn have a keyboard for playing text-based adventures at one point or another?

Being a big computer RPG fan I really enjoyed this article.

One suggestion I have would be to make the box art pictures on the side of the articles links to larger images of the pictures. I'd love to have a better look at some of the box art.

Very nice article, but I noticed one little mistake.

The Turbo Duo version of Might & Magic III was released in America! As with many later US Duo releases it was limited, but you can see cover art here:

Other than that, I really enjoyed it, especially Japanese gamers' unlikely love for Wizardry. They've even got Wizardry on cell phones over there!

Loved the article. Didn't even know about half of those.

Pool of Radiance didn't get a NES port? I could've sworn it had, though I don't own a copy.

Likewise with the Ultima: Runes of Virtue games, though I do have the first one and the SNES version of the second (never seen the Game Boy one).

It did. I remember playing that one with my grandmother when it came out, and at the end there were passwords given for your characters to input in a potential sequel to carry them over. Never did see a sequel.

EDIT: There's one on ebay right now, Item number: 3089428128
