On a similar note, it's actually 10 years today that the PS1 was released in Europe...

Happy birthday, N64! Hard to believe it's been so many years. I got my N64 a day early, so I guess it's been 9 years and one day for me. :) And she still looks and plays as well as ever.

I got my first N64 only earlier this year, it took me that long to realize how great a system it was. It wasn't the best system ever made, but it definitely had it's share of great games.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY N64 The 2nd best system ever made, better than PS1, PS2, XBOX, GC IMO.

I loved it so much, no other console made a leap like the N64 did, months before it was launched you could see how awesome this thing was going to be. Shame the PS1 bet the N64 in the end, a DAMM shame, but life goes on, and N64 was no means a failure. Fantastic time to be a gamer *sniff*

My N64 turns 8 in November. Hard to belive, even after (Out of frustration. Told you Bowser is one mean b@stard!):

    - Ripping Carts out of it with Power on
    - Throwing Controlers at it
    - Otherwise Beating the living crap out of it

    ...and it still works!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY N64! (and Windows 95, Still using Win95 after 10 years!)

I'm still trying to figure out how the hell I lasted from September until Christmas to play Super Mario 64.

I'll write a happy poem entitled "Tugging On My Heart":

    Happy Birthday Nintendo 64
    Oh I love you so
You touch me in my special place
I hope you never let go

    Tug on it you shall
    Make me scream and howl
No one is as good as you
When you jerk my like you do

    yay for impromptu suggestive poetry!

9 years already. In two months I'll be married that long .

I remember that fateful launch day. Buddy of mine and I got up early and drove to Fond du Lac to stand outside Toys R' Us before they opened to find out that they had a small shipment and the preorders took them all (if memory serves). We walked over to Target and picked up Mario 64 (as they didn't have the consoles out or in yet) and as a last ditch effort we went to ShopKo to see if they had systems. The gal at the electronics counter had no clue what an "Enn sixty-four" was but we spotted a whole shelf full of them.

    Happy Release-Day, N64!

    Happy Birthday!

The N64 was actually my first own console that was strictly MINE. I got it for Christmas (there was actually a semi-interesting story about that Christmas and I posted it here awhile ago)

As for the video, I never knew that Kirby's Air Ride was originally an N64 game...

Man, 9 years? I am getting old. I remember buying it a few weeks after launch after seeing it at my cousins house. I fell in love with Super Mario 64.

The 64 was the beginning of my disenfranchisement of current systems. That lasted all the way until FF9 came out, which I bought a PS2 to play. Now I go back and play the 64 all the time, but it marked for the the first period when I could go to the store and see row after row of games that I had absolutely no interest in.

I loved my N64, and many of its game will be among some of my top 10 and top 20 games of all time. Mario 64 changed the way I would look at and play games forever, smash bros and goldeneye brought whole new meanings to the word multiplayer, and zelda defined what games are really about, fun.
