Default k8track’s Napoleon Dynamite Video Game Design Challenge!

I absolutely adore this movie. I love it. It speaks to me. I loved it when I first saw it in the theatre (before it achieved cult status) and still love it with every subsequent viewing on DVD. Asinine Hot Topic movie-related tchotchkes notwithstanding, I can’t get enough of this movie. Since the very idea of a possible sequel is anathema to me, I would love to see the next best thing: a Napoleon Dynamite video game! Who wouldn’t??

But since I have no video game designing skillz whatsoever, I therefore extend this challenge to those who do: Design a video game, either for the Intellivision, Odyssey 2, or the TI-99 4/A, that truly captures the spirit of the movie—indeed, an extension of the movie!

The game should incorporate at least six of the following events/stages (these aren’t listed in chronological order):

    1. Tetherball Challenge
    2. Sweet Jumps With Pedro’s Bicycle
    3. Dancing at the School Assembly
    4. LaFawnduh Lovin’
    5. Chicken Scramble/Gross-Ass Egg-Based Beverage Chugging
    6. Tina Feeding
    7. Tator Tot Eating
    8. Being Pushed into the School Lockers/Kicking Response
    9. Rex-Kwon Do
    10. Tethered Bicycling
    11. Napoleon’s Grandma’s Dune Buggy Racing
    12. Uncle Rico’s Football Toss
    13. Horse Racing to Kip’s Wedding
    14. Time Travelling

(BONUS! Incorporate all 14 stages! DOUBLE BONUS! Incorporate the use of the speech synthesizer! TRIPLE BONUS! Cram it all into 1K!)

As incentive, I am offering the following prizes:

1st Prize: An Atari 2600 Canyon Bomber cartridge, covered in sequins and glitter, autographed by Falco, Taco, and Tomata du Plenty. Approximate value: $8.00

2nd Prize: $10 billion in cash.

3rd Prize: A dogeared paperback copy of Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking. Approximate value: 25 cents plus tax.

4th Prize: $20 billion in cash.

OK! Get cracking! This thing isn’t going to design itself!
"As you traitors roast in your own juices, I will be safely ensconced three miles below the earth's surface, listening to my wax-cylinder player and enjoying a delicious phosphate!"
