    Default Midway arcade vol. 3

so i picked up the xbox version of this and i have to say im very disapointed, hydro thunder runs like shit, wicked slow and helllllllaaaa choppy same with both of the rushes which is the reason i bought this game, anyone else feeling the same way, im pretty pissed, i shoulda just stuck with rush for n64 and hydro for dreamcast cuz they are much better imo, why cant they just take the time and get this stuff right?

    me=VERY disapointed

I'm very dissapointed to hear this as I was playing on purchasing this for Rush and Hydro Thunder. If they are no where near arcade quality then its a no go for me.

I felt the more recent games were a bit buggy (isn't there music on the track/car/boat selection screens), but I still felt that they were a lot of fun. I never experienced any choppiness during the actual gameplay, and I didn't feel any of them were slower than they were supposed to be.

It's not perfect, and it's probably the weakest in the M.A.T. trilogy, but I'd still say it's worth the cost.

I agree, they are a bit weak in the titles. For 20 bucks its not that bad of a deal, if it was more then that I would question it more.

Correction: it was in progress, until Feb. 23, 2005. Heh.

Anyway, yeah, I don't think the frame rate in Hydro Thunder stands up to, say, the XBox version of Arctic Thunder, but it's still 100% playable. Mind you, this is the only version of it I've played before.

My only major complaint with the games is that Rush 2049 sounds like absolute shit. It plays okay, but god, it sounds like a bunch of firecrackers going off in a metal trash can wrapped up in a quilt.

The user interface kinda sucks, though. In order to upload new scores, you have to exit the game, load the game again, choose the XBox Live stuff from the options menu, and then proceed loading the game all the way to the title screen again, since there's no way to back out from that point.

Despite those gripes, this would be totally worth it even for just Rush the Rock and Super Offroad. ;-)

The Rush and Hydro Thunder are not arcade ports.

Rather, they ported the Dreamcast versions to the xbox.....

Correct. But Rush 2049 definitely sounded a hell of a lot better on the DC. Ha ha.

I have the ps2 version. Hydro Thunder runs great, all the others have slowdown.

And the dreamcast versions of Hydro and Rush 2049 have more features n stuff.

Probably because they both run on windows hardware.

They should have definitely stuck with the Arcade versions.

They run nice and smooth for me.

Sounds find to me. Adjusted volume levels in Hydro Thunder which helped, think I did that in Rush 2049 as well.

Hmm. I just tried that, with the sound and music both set to 5, and it still sounds like automatic weapon fire at best. It's particularly obvious around the start/finish line, and any when the announcer speaks.

I wanted to buy this arcade collection but about a month ago I saw if you pre-orded the new LA rush game (its 50 dollars though) you get a free copy of midway arcade treasures 3. The way I see it is i'm buying midway arcade treasures which i wanted anyway for 20 dollars and getting a discount on LA rush for the price of 30 dollars.

Phew....I bought a bunch of games this morning and this was one of the ones that I wanted but DIDN'T take. Oddworld Stranger won out instead.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I'll be trying it in the store before I buy.

Oddly enough just got home with the PS2 version. I was debating on getting the Xbox version but I decided that the advantages of it (more solid framerate in the multiplayer games) didn't really matter to me since I won't be playing with other people much (if at all).

and I'm glad they actually took the time to port the Dreamcast versions of 2049 and Hydro Thunder, they were better than the arcade versions. More shortcuts, more gameplay modes, hidden tracks.

Rush the Rock is actually smoother than the arcade original.

That's what I did too, so I won't be getting MAT3 until next week. And it'll be the PS2 version.

Xbox plays Rush 2049 smoother in multiplayer mode (almost always 60fps, while the PS2 version is 30fps), but other than that I don't know of any differences.
