    Default EBAY SCAM

If you get an email, saying your ebay has been suspended...be careful. Open up a new window and go to ebay directly, and see if your account has a REAL suspension...I just about got ripped, this is a very real looking ebay clone...
anway if you guys already knew...sorry, just thought id give the heads up,..

The usual here... it happens lots of times to most people though. By now, most of us are too wary

I think the frequency of these scam attempts seems to go up the more active you are on ebay.

I've been using ebay more and more the last few months and the attempts have gone up - anyone else notice this trend?

I got my filter setup to dump those out to the trash bin automatically...

as I visit my eBay page on daily basis if something's up I will be the first one to know anyway...

^ There's many variants of the spoof emails. Some are the account suspended/acount verification type and others try to sound like real "Question from member" emails. Fake PayPal "You received cash!" from someone you've never dealt with are another.

All of those e-mails want you to click the link in them, where it then takes you to a fake site disguised to look like the ebay/paypal login page.

Never click links in emails, always go to the site directly yourself in a new browser window.

This warning can be applied to paypal also. I have been receiving so many I have stopped notifying ebay and paypal. Just make sure any casual user with access to your account knows not to take any actions without confirming the validity of the email.

In a couple days I got an email from both Ebay and Paypal saying my accounts were suspended and had to be reactivated. I clicked on the link and they took me to what looked like ebay and paypal but of course I didn't trust them. When I opened a new window and logged in they didn't say anything about it, so that made sure it was definitely a scam. A pretty good one though, unwary people would easily fall for it. :/

This is why I made my Gmail address my primary Paypal one. Gmail filters all the spoof emails and makes sure that I don't click on any links that could cause a problem.

Most free email providers should also block them...
