Default To Funco or not to Funco?

    Okay, for a while now I've been trying to sell some things;
Donkey Kong 64 with box, manual and player's guide
    Mischief Makers 64 with box
Banjo Kazooie with box, manual and player's guide
And I haven't found a buyer. I was thinking about turning them into Funco or EB for store credit. But, I've never done this before and I was wondering if it's a good idea or not. Do they give you a fair amount for the games? Because I don't want to hand them over for real cheap. And, are either one of those stores ones that make you spend your credit the same day? Thanks!

I don't think that you will get a fair value,my opinion. I just can't bring myself to part with anyhing thats not duplicate, so I hope you have dups of these, otherwise my recomendation is to horde as much as you can lol.

Here's what I'd reccommend, unless you really need to get rid of this stuff right now, or unless there's something you gotta get today and you don't have the money, I'd start your trade box with those games. Though you might be sitting on them for a while, someday out of the blue, someone might be looking for those very games. I'll bet if you asked most of us who've been in the hobby a while, that's how our trade boxes got started.

Also, just a personal opinion here, Mischeif Makers since is was developed by Treasure and all, might be a good one to hold on to anyway. People do seem to like thir games and though they don't sell well initally, everybody seems to want them after the fact.

Although I've never been to a funco ( Im in canada and i don't think that they are here) but it seems to be like cash converters and if it is I say keep the games cause they only give you 3-5 dollars for the games there.

I traded in some shit PSX games to funco and got like $2-3 credit each. Those same games were up on their shelves for $7-10 the next day.

Moral, don't trade stuff in for credit unless you know you can get a good amount for it, like NES consoles (I hear they give you $30 credit for complete NES's)

I agree with what everybody else has already said. GameStops and Funcolands usually give you little money on trade ins because they are in the market of reselling them. Its better to trade/sell yourself to someone who needs/wants them.

If you haven't already tried, I would suggest checking out:

    http://gametz.com/

It's a trade site where you can find people who are looking for these games and then see what they have to trade for them. It's probably a little more suited for N64 stuff versus this board.

Forgot to mention that my last post the cash was in canadian so the 3-5 would actually be 2-3 US.

You know how I get a lot of Dreamcast stuff? I get my friend, who works at EB, to give people my phone number. I've been there when he does it before, its really pretty funny. This 10 year old kid comes in wanting to get some gamecube game and has like 20 dollars and a trash bag full of DC stuff. My friend is like, we can give you 10 dollars for the console and 1-3 for each game, and we cant give yuo anything for the accessories. Then the kid gets this real disappointed look. I usually end up giving someone like that about 50-60 for his "lot".

Jesus, I just realized im obsessed with dreamcast, this cant be healthy.

i used to be a funco-hater but now i've had a change of heart besides that would be a gamestop-hater nowadays. if you keep track of the values of trade ins you can actually make funco work for you by bringing games you bought cheap elsewhere, like say NES stuff at a yardsale. or you can do what hardcore types like me do, spend the afternoon thrifting and picking up cheap consoles then bring them to funco for games you dont already own.

i've considered taping up a notice outside the store saying something like "i'll buy the old games funco wont" to get all the game gear, saturn and earlier goodies...

As far as I know, the only things worth Funco-ing are NES consoles ($35 each). They also give $14 for Genesis consoles which isn't bad, although that includes 2 controllers and I find that Genny pads are really handy.

gamestops "funcos" are weird about accessories too.

ive seen them turn people down because a nes or whatever has a genesis rf with it i mean wtf its the same thing just black!

I work at a used game store and no dont trade in your fucking games
ebay them if anything. unless you live by my store then please trade in your boxed nes games for 2 bux each in credit thanks.

by the way 6 years workin at this game store and never saw a panesian game... only like last year did i learn that stadium events was at all rare so who knows if any of those have come through id have seen it as a stupid sports game and laughed when someone bought it for 3 bux.

I just checked out Gamestop's website to try and get an idea of what you would get from them (not knowing how much they give for games really).

DK64 and Banjo-Kazooie sell for $25 each used, I'd expect to get $7-12 at best each (remember this is just my guess)

Mischief Makers sells for $18 used, probably $5-9 max on that one...

I don't know if they buy back strategy guides, probably wouldn't get much for those at all
