I don't think Sony will lower PSP price until credible competition arrives, or components slowly become cheaper to manufacture, and *some* of the savings eventually slides down to the consumer.
I hope to buy one next holiday season for $199 or so.

I paid $350 for my Gretzky bundle and I'd still pay $350 for it. The system's worth every penny. 12 games, 2 movies so far and 4 games yet to buy this month. I play it every day.
Movies, that's cool. But, books and photos? I just don't see a practical application to those features on that small screen. I'd rather print out photos, have hi-res ones, etc. And books, you can't subsitute anything for the real deal. I'd hate to read a book on there.Originally Posted by petewhitley

It's a matter of taste I suppose, but I load up BT'ed comics on my PSP, flip the screen vertically, and read 'em wherever I might be. The screen is of such high quality I've never had any eye strain. It's certainly better than reading text on a GameBoy Micro. :POriginally Posted by GrayFox
I've done everything with mine. From converting PDF files to veiw on my PSP. to setting up VNC so I can cruise the internet off my own computer from the other room. emus, Movies, Mp3's and photos. it's my entertainment paradise.
Maybe someday I'll be able to play X-com on it. I think I would lose it if it could.
I second that "Huh??" First of all, "credible" isn't the right word you're going for here. o_O Second, isn't the DS selling on par or even better than the PSP?Originally Posted by mr_pollock
I also agree that it's fucking retarded that Sony's response to the PSP barely having any games worth owning is to release an even more expensive package with a bunch of worthless accessories. Brand new stand? Sign me up. :/ Gimme some GAMES. If you want to watch movies and listen to music and crap, the PSP is fine and dandy, but from a gamer's POV, the PSP is piss-poor at this current point in time.
My apologies if it sounded like I was dissing the DS in favor of the PSP. In fact, I don't see them as being even remotely similiar other than both are portable. Their markets are just vastly different, which is part of Nintendo's genius.
I mean, the PSP is a wicked cool multifunction device, with a *VERY* nice screen, loads of fun mods, etc, etc, etc... but it's not a Nintendo. The DS just has better games if you're into platformers, party games, sports, or just general genius stuff like Metroid, etc.
When I mean credible competition, I mean something like Microsoft could make if they threw an Xbox budget at it. 4" or larger screen, 3.5" DVD format, mobile Halo/etc. This also wouldn't really overlap into Nintendo's market.
Hope this clarifies my post. I just don't see the DS and PSP as competitors, each have a distinct and strong market.
i second that!Originally Posted by unwinddesign
