    Default New PAL Ps1 Shooters

I posted this on the other forum but no one seems to care and maybe no one actually does but can anyone tell me what the 2d/ pseudo 3d shooters are on the PAL PS1? I especially want to know about recent releases and what they're like?

Best place to check for anything shmuppery related is Shmups.com. The Xenocide files should have info on all shmups for a particular system.

However, you are limiting yourself with just PAL games. Out of all those PSone games, I know these got UK releases:

    Einhander (absolute quality)
    R-Types (R-Type 1 & 2 on one disk. Smashing)
    R-Type Delta (quality^2)
G Darius (on the hunt for this myself)
    N2O (?)
    Sanvein (never played it)
Space Invaders (um, it's Space Invaders)
Strikers 1945 II (got this for £3 in Gamestation)

Now if we throw a Breaker Pro (or other method) into the equasion, there's more import shooty fun to be had:

Harmful Park (brilliant, absolutely great. I do love my Cute 'em ups)
    Gradius Gaiden (again, quality^2)
    Donpachi (mental)
    DoDonpachi (even more mental)
Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius/Parodius Deluxue/Sexy Parodius (my head hurts. wierd, but damn good)
Gaia Seed (looks like it should be running on a MegaCD. Damn good though)
70's Giant Robot Anime: Geppy X (will tell you how good it is when it arrives)
Cotton Original (class. Conversion of PCEngine original)
Marchen Cotton 100% (conversion of SFami game)

Um, yeah. There are more shooters, but the Saturn versions of those are generally considered superior. Have fun.

Neither of these are 2D shooters. N2O is more like Tempest and Sanvein is a unique top-down screen-by-screen thing.

...and all three of these are incredibly expensive and on my wantlist. Don't forget Zanac X Zanac as well...

Shooter Space Shot is a budget shooter in the style of Einhander or R-Type Delta, couldn't tell you if it got a PAL release, though...not bad at all.

Forgot Kyuiin [vacuum kids]. Cute 'em up with a small boy riding a flying hoover Apparently you can suck-up enemies with the hoover and then shoot them out. Sounds very crazy, but is highly regarded.

On the hunt for a copy now. I reckon I'll go for the Best of the Best rerelease, as it's cheaper and I actually prefer the cover art to the original.

Like I said before, some of the shooters are much better on the Saturn. However, if you don't have a Saturn, then I'd also recommend Soukyugurentai, Thunderforce V and Layer Section.

And if you want some Run n' Gun love, Gunners Heaven/Rapid Reload is a quality game. Can be frustrating, but it's very much Gunstar Heroes for the Playstation.
