    Default A strange audio request

I was thinking a bit about the lost age of arcades, and I remembered the sound that I heard when I walked into an arcade. Not voices, but the sounds of pinballs bouncing, token machines plugging out coins, bleeps and songs from the stand-up machines... all of that exciting commotion.

Such a unique sound, isn't it? I bet there are people here that have never really heard that... and anyone much younger than I am (I'm nearly 25), can probably not remember that mid 80's goodness. Sure, there are still arcades, but the CD quality music and voices pouring out of most machines (while still having an ambience of their own) don't quite compare.

Anyway, my request: a sound file of "that sound." I've been to arcades in recent years, but nothing sounds like the huge back room in the local Aladdin's Castle, Funsville USA, or Chuck E Cheese.

    Doubtful, but worth a shot.

You've gotta be kidding me. Ask and ye shall receive, eh?

    Thanks, bud.

    edit: http://arcade.hofle.com/

Downloads section there has them for free. Doesn't appear to be a pirating thing, either. Anyway, I love it.

Oh man, if I close my eyes and relax i feel like i just went back in time. I can almost see the Dimly lit areas towards the front of the building.

the door to the outside is proped open with a brick and there is a big floor fan across the room as you enter the smells from the outside summer night mingle the smells of warm Solidstate Electronics.

Man, what great memories, it's too bad the Arcades where i used to live are gone now, i remeber the first Arcade i ever went in to.

it was downtown Nashville TN about 6:30 Pm summer, i was walking down Broadway and saw the Half lit Neon sign that read "t e Gam s Plae" (the games palace)

when i walked in there must have been about close to 250 Machines (Video game and Pinball) the first machine to catch my attention and hold it for about 5 Hours was Robotron 2084.

    good times never last.

That is poetry. So these reproductions sound pretty authentic? I want to know from the veterans, because my early arcade memories start around '89...
