when you say nintendo do you mean nes, gameboy, snes, virtual boy, what?

as far as nes, the nwc 1990 carts are the only ones i can really think of off hand. there were boxes for all the pack-in games as far as i can think of, but i might be forgetting a couple. what were all the various nes pack-in games anyway, there must be a list somewhere.

as far as nes, the nwc 1990 carts are the only ones i can really think of off hand
True, unless you can find the crate these were shipped to America from Japan in, heh heh. Yeah, I know, not going to happen.

Alternately, I've heard the NWC techs carried around a red case with extra carts in it in case they had to change them for the competition. I believe they were kept in those plastic slip bags all licensed NES games came in within their boxes. I've never seen one of the cases, but I'm working on trying to at least get pics of one...might never happen, but we'll see.

No manuals on these either, but the 90 NWC finalists did receive a videotape on game strategies for the cart. Strangely, only some that I've interviewed got this...others were like, "What! Why didn't I get one?!" So yeah, no manual, but many of the folks saved all their documentation (legal papers, itineraries, etc.) from the event. I guess that's about as close as you can get.

Some folks did receive a piece of paper with their cart like this one Adam Misosky got:
    http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewar..._docs/nwc7.jpg

Oh, and here's a link to some examples of that documentation I was talking about (also from Adam):

    http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/misosky.html

Some said theirs came in a regular yellow padded envelope in the mail with no paper, others have said they were called into a meeting, and some finalists said it was handed to them right around the end of the competition. I found this rather strange...there's at least 3 different stories on how each got his/her cart.

Other than that, there's always the NWC pamphlet, or Insider's Guide every competition goer saw lying all over the place. Some later shows changed a couple pages of it, including the cover to say Powerfest instead of Nintendo World Championships 1990.

That was probably way too much info, lol...

This was because it came with the system, I assume. So, did some regions have it come boxed and others not?

I saw the title and thought of the First Hunt pack-in for the DS. The Prime 2 demo disc also has no box.

But neither of those are NES games, so boo hoo.

I don't think Miracle Piano came with a box. It was just packaged cart-only with the keyboard.

Me too. I have the 4 controller pack and it don't have a box for the game.

BTW, there isn't a NTSC version of this cart.

Also I can confirm that Miracle Piano doesn't have a box.
