Were I in charge I'd create a Mario 3D Platformer with just the sunshine waterpak-free levels. The ones where you hop and jump over obstacles.
Another idea - Take Super Mario Bros 3 or Mario World & redo levels in 3D.

They should leave Super Mario 3 alone. It's perfect as is. They will come up with a great Mario without a remake I hope.

What should be done is do a new 3d Mario game with elements from ALL the games. Raccoon suit, Picking up characters, but that should be GREATLY limited. If the camera were like Legend Of Zelda:WW, then we'd be in great shape.
Reminds me of the 3-d isometric remakes of Metroid, Zelda, and others:Another idea - Take Super Mario Bros 3 or Mario World & redo levels in 3D.

Oh hell yes. Those were by far the best parts of Super Mario Sunshine.Originally Posted by kevin_psx
I agree. I never got into Mario 64 until now on the DS because I wanted the features of Mario 3 in the game, and I knew it wouldn't have it. If they sat down and combined the elements of Mario 1, 3, 4 and 64, I think it would be one amazing game.

I don't think that anyone is going to be able to accurately predict what will set the next major Mario game apart.
All we can be sure of is that it will serve to showcase the Revolution hardware. It will be built entirely around the new control scheme and be designed expressly to do things that have not been done before. I expect the difference between it and 64/Sunshine to be as great as the difference between Super Mario World and SM64, if not greater.
The addition of some item or suit will look like nothing compared to the actual changes the game will offer.
I completly agree. I really enjoyed those waterpak-free levels. Some of them really got hard and fustrating though when you would be all the way at the end and FALL.Originally Posted by kevin_psx

With that being said, I'd still love to see the suits return, along with the Koopa Kids.
And the Shoe!!! Give me more of my goddamned shoe, Nintendo. That shoe was just....brilliant. Hell, why not make the next Mario game entirely shoe-oriented? I'd buy it.

I personally would love to see a Mario Tactics game. I think that it could be done well for any of the current Nintendo systems

While I don't completely agree with the sooner, I'm definately in the camp of the latter. The Mario platformer for consoles really needs to go back to 2D, for at least one installment. It should also highlight and make the case/justification for the Rev's control scheme and make it as relevant as Mario 64 did for analog...Originally Posted by buttasuperb

The next 3D Mario title should be revolutionary.
Couldn't resist.
Seriously though, it's an obvious guess that Nintendo will use the next Mario to show off what the Rev controller will do. I'm just hoping they won't try to achieve this by giving Mario something like a water pack again. I want Nintendo to take Mario back to his 3D roots. I want something like Mario 64. I want Nintendo to take the development of this game in the same way they have with the new Zelda.
This generation was the first since the NES where Nintendo didn't make the definitive platformer. I hope they can change that this time around.
