Just what i need! Now all i need to do is figure out how to remove one of the worn screws holding down that triangular plate. My screwdriver doesn't seem to have any grip on it. Anyone got any suggestions?
CURRENTLY PLAYING:
- Bioshock (360)
- Disgaea (DS)
- Wipeout HD (PS3)
if you have a dremel tool with a cutting wheel you can cut a groove in the screw and use a flat balde screwdriver to remove it

Hey you're right! Will do that when i get the time.

Be extremely careful. The last thing you want is metal dust inside your circuits. Use a tiny vaccum next to it while you cut...this alone involves a bit of caution too that you don't slip.Hey you're right! Will do that when i get the time.

A long time ago I found a web site that sold belts to repair VCRs and whatnot. They had all different shapes and sizes, one of which fit my Famicom Disk System perfectly. I don't recall how much the belt cost, but it was less than $5. I also got a couple belts to fix the tape drive in my Sharp X1 and for an old Atari tape drive as well. I'll see if I can't find the URL.
That seems expensive for a rubber belt..?this place also sells belts on their website and on eBay. I bought 4 from them for about $45 shipped and they arrived quickly.

What size is the belt?
I can most rubber belts for about $1 each!
Unless its a "special" one
Nice guide though
I tried measuring the belt and it came to roughly 4.5" pulled taught end to end. I suppose the only true way to measure it is to cut one in half.
Replacing that belt is a minor nightmare though. Getting it onto the large gear the right way and also dealing with the small gear and the triangular stand is not easy. The belt is the flimsiest piece of rubber I have ever seen. I'm not even sure if I did it right because I have no disks to test with. (Anyone willing to let one go cheap?)
No, you dont have to cut one in half. I have the measuerments written down at home. It's funny you posted in this thread acouple days ago, because I just wrote a note to myself an hour ago to remember to find the sheet I wrote it on tonight, then noticed the post, heh heh.
Anyway, I measured the width and thickness of the belt using a micrometer caliper thingy. Next, I used a different, yet very simple device meant specifically for measuring belts. My dad just happened to have both laying round.

Ok, mentioned it in my other thread here:

But here it is again.
Don't forget to let me know what you find out, everyone.OK, got the dimensions. I'm glad I finally got around to posting this, because I've been meaning to for a while and some other folks were asking me for it.
Flat Ribbon Style, 2mm wide (approx .080 inch), but fds may take 3mm (.120 inch) or 4mm (.160 inch) wide also. It is just slightly less than 1mm thick. Inside diameter is 9.125 inches, but I theorize that a 9 inch belt may also be just fine. I hope to hear if anyone gets a chance to experiment with belts of those two sizes. Please let me know if you do, and let me know if you manage to find belts of these dimensions anywhere.
