But can you imagine people waiting behind them, and everyone's mouths drop to the ground when they start smashing it in front of everyone? Haha. That would be funny.
To be a real jerk to all those drooling fanboys who are waiting outside for one. I would not do that because I would be mobed my the fans after the destruction of their idol, would do it if I could live after though.

The same people (or a similar group) had a smash-my-ipod thing going. When Leander Kahney of Cult of Mac/Wired News questioned the motives of the guy (ie. raise money to buy a new iPod and smash an older one -- in other words scamming people), the guy retorted that it was for real, etc.

This is the new trend, I guess. Every time there's a new console, someone has to be the first to destroy it on-line. I seem to recall one of the magazines starting the trend with a Japanese PS2 before it came out here.
Reminds me of the time a local radio station drove over a Tickle Me Elmo doll with their Hummer. It was defective, and they were still getting calls from people pleading with them not to do it, and to sell it to them instead.
IIRC the PS2 in the magazine I was refering to was burnt out as well. I think it was the main unit everyone on staff had been using 24/7 since launch. People were still up in arms about it.

There also was a group who did it with the PSP in Japan before it was released in the US, during the shortage in Japan.
What gets me mad is that those people messed up someone's chance to ENJOY that xbox 360 WITHOUT it being destroyed.
That was their purpose, to shock people and piss them off.
I can't wait to see the video too see people's reactions.

I'm as big a videogame fan as they come, but at the end of the day, it's a plastic box filled with whirling gears and 'lectronic parts. He bought it, he can give it to charity or take a dump in it. His call. Righteous indignation over a TOY is stupid.

But someone did enjoy it.. just not in the way you would.
There is gonna be a million of these things made and 2-5 years lifespan to enjoy it while it's still current but, you only get one chance to do this much psychological damage to this number of people in a public place without breaking the law and subsequently being incarcerated for it.
