Default Halo 2 headset on Xbox 360

All the reports I've read recently have said that the 360 controller doesn't have any support for older Xbox headsets. Since my system didn't come with a 360 headset (which looks like a piece of crap anyway), I decided to give my Plantronics Halo 2 headset a shot. And lo and behold...it works! The sound is a but fuzzy, but it's clear enough to understand what's being said. I've yet to try it online (I've only sent voice messages w/ it), but this is is good news for anyone w/ a nice Xbox1 headset.

I don't recall the claim that it wouldn't work on the 360. Especially since the 360 Headset is only a standard headset with an in-line mute.

I just tried a simple, cheap cellphone headset and it worked fine too.

Yeah, me either. I'm pretty sure all old Xbox headsets will work on a 360.

Yeah, I use my old Xbox headset, since I prefer the "behind ear" style vs over the head. The only downside is the old headset has no volume cotrol or mute button, since that part is built in to the 360's headset. I suppose one could splice the volume/mute onto an old Xbox headset pretty easily, if one were to desire it. I may have to try that!

The old headsets all work fine. I did notice that with all the headsets that they have a bit of static. I'm assuming its because of the wireless controller feature.
