Found a couple of pictures. I just thought it would be cool to disscuss what would happen if apple joined the console wars.

All my meseta if you can guess what CMTZ stands for.
It would be the most stable but they would only make 4 games for it.
looks like a remote control waste basket
That is so obviously fake.
That's damned funny. It would be the most stable but they would only make 4 games for it.

Pff. It's been done. Read up on the Pippin.

To bad its not real I would buy this before I would a 360 anyday
yeah pippin was canned, so apple won't do a console at all. They did supply the Intel G5 processors for the 360 right? If so, they kinda are...
Apple uses IBM chips (and that also happens to be what the X360 and Rev are running internally, all be it modified G5 processors, just built on some of the same archecture) but sometime in 06 Apple is actually shifting over to Intel chips for all their systems.Originally Posted by dcescott

Actually, if apple were to get into the game business I think their best bet would be a handheld. I can see them making a handheld / iPod hybrid.
30-some percent of it's profits would be funnelled into the Xbox.
apple i dont beleive would stand to much of a chance. even if the picture is fake or not or if they are in the making of a console as we speak. what would they come out with that could rival the xbox 360 , the ps3, and 2 for that matter. i dont believe that they could possibly offer anything better or somethign that hasnt already been done.
sure there was a lot of hype when xbox first hit the market, but that was the first of its kind. and also, if they did make a new console, it would just congest the game sections of all stores with there " four games"

I think apple could pull this off if they made it a media box, with itunes, quicktime, and then it played games. You know, kind of like the PSP, only in your living room.
That's what they are likely doing - minus the game portion. Most of the accurate Mac rumor sites are talking abouut an Intel powered Mac mini, with a tv tuner card and Tivo style DVR software being introduced in January.Originally Posted by atm55
I would definitely buy this, but games seem like such an obvius way to grab another possible audience, why not at least give it a shot?Originally Posted by stuffedmonkey
They tried already and failed spectacularly! I doubt they would try again, given the current state of the market!

Who got the idea that a mutated PS2 pad needed to be plugged into a paper shredder?
Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, IT'S BACON!!!!
That controller is way too ugly to have been designed by Apple. And the overall design is a generation or two ago.
Apple is more likely to remake the Newton. Which ain't likely at all.
They won't be mad, the console market is damn hard and it's hard to make a profit (look at the X-box and Sony). I think Apple is smart enough not to the big risks of making their own console. THey tried it a bit with Pippin and maybe there will be wificontrollers for a mediacenter Mac Mini, but they will never release it again as a console. Just too much risk.
