Anyone agree? The music, especially the one that plays with the tiny picture in a circle shaped showing before you start the next level is just, wow, freaky and haunting. The last stage, Macbeth anyone? I love this game.

Altered Beast is such a great game.
Then Morgoth hurled aloft Grond, the Hammer of the Underworld, and swung it down like a bolt of thunder.
Everytime I play that game I cant help but mock "Welcome to your doom!" and I usualy keep saying it for days on after that.
there's a remake for the import ps2. i hear its more like dynasty warriors with alternate bodies (and lotsa gore)
I've got the arcade machine in the garage ... I get to hear the "welcome to your doom!" many times a week
Yeah the remake for ps2 is about 20 times as bad as the genny version. You have to watch this morphing cut scene every time you change shape, and you just mash buttons over and over again, its horrid.
I used to be scared to go to the arcade because of that game. Particularly for the shape shifting cinema in the gameplay demo. I would get so spooked if I accidently turned my head at a radius at the machine and there's that scene. And that ruined my night.
There's a GBA game (or two) as well.

and for the record..it's "WISE FWOM YO GWAVE"...we must always stress the Elmer Fudd "If he was Zeus" Linguistics...which makes Altered Beast a timeless classic...and still made the Genesis shine in true 16-bit glory...
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

Ah, right. Altered Beast. Love it. I don't really feel the game's freaky, just has certain...undercurrents, or perhaps overtures. O:
Yeah, I love Altered Beast. The voice samples always had my friends and I laughing.
I especially loved the massive body in speedo with tiny head form right before your transformation. Classic stuff!
