Default green lines o doom on a snes

hi ive got a PAL snes with a horrible beast lurking inside it.

it has what is techinically called "green lines o doom" which run rampant all over the screen. probably shouting I OWnZ T3h 5cr3En or something.

anyway there are green lines running down the screen vertically which distort the image around them.

but on most games it isnt really noticable, super castlevania 4 for example, has no problems when it comes to whipping skeletons and spiderman can kick ass in maximum carnage with a few stray green lines being spotted.

however put in mario all stars or yoshi's island and the green lines take over! could be that they are bad carts, but i think it more likely to be a problem with the console as it is the same fault and the fault is seen on other games in a much lesser state. im guessing that as yoshi's island has a superfx2 chip in it maybe the extra stress on the snes is making it worse?

was wondering if anyone knew what was going on?

the green lines are on the RF output and using the RF from an n64 lessened the effect but yoshi's island is still unplayable.

will probably just buy a new snes..

You have tried two different RF connectors with this SNES, right? Have you tried the RCA (a.k.a. red, white, yellow) connector? What you describe really sounds like an interference problem... *shrugs shoulders* but I don't know.

well my girlfriend has bought it for me and so im going to try it with the composite and rgb cables i have for the gamecube. i hadnt thought about it being interference but then i havent used RF for so long, she was trying out for me. i just assumed there would be something wrong with the video chip which is a bit extremist.

i will see how it looks from A/V.
