    Default Sega Nomad...easy to fix?

I've got a possible line on getting a hold of a Sega Nomad for a decent price. Aside from one ugly scratch on the screen, the only other known problem with the machine is that the Brightness button is a little "touchy", which I guess means it maybe flickers on and off or doesn't necessarily work when pushed.

I'm no expert, but I'm also no stranger to taking apart and getting inside consoles and handhelds. So what I'd like to know is if anybody knows enough about a Nomad's innards to tell me if this is a viable repair to do on my own or not?

My first guess from your description is a loose connection, which could cause it flicker. For this I would open it up and see if you can see anything loose. If not I would reflow all the solder joints on the potentiometer. Otherwise get and once it's open we can see what it going on.

    Its easy to fix.

I received a non working nomad from a DP user (a thief) about 2 years ago. The nomad arrived with no brightness dial (the dial had fallen off and was INSIDE the console). All I was able to see when I turned on the nomad was a white screen.

About a week ago I brought the nomad to a friend and work and he fixed it in 15 minutes. He opened the nomad, got the dial again and soldered it in (I think he called it a potentiometer).

It was an easy job. I wonder why I waited 2 years to try to fix it. The nomad is working normally now! :)
